Millions of americans download daily music from the internet and it is very unfair that a poor woman needs to pay huge damages as this! I am glad I do not live in US since that lawsystem is probably the most wicked in the whole world

this makes me pissed.. i'm not a downloader myself, but imo the record companies can only demand that they pay the original price for the album the song is on..

Not really, because it's not downloading the song that they're charging her for, its offering the downloads to other people.

I still think its fucking stupid though because this isn't accomplishing anything besides earning lawyers a bunch of money... maybe they'll try to get enough people who are giving up a quarter of their paychecks for them to stay in business???

Even though I buy all my music I have more than 24 illegally downloaded tracks.

The point of the lawsuit is not to make any damages back at all. It is too scare people away from downloading music.

I hate this tactic of lawsuit because they go out of there way to make sure the person getting hit with the lawsuit is devastated beyond belief and suffers hard for the twenty four songs they downloaded.

All this does is make people recognize how fucking stupid groups like the RIAA and ASCAP are, and how they in no way serve the artists.

it would be funny if the person charged was just a fake... and all this was just a hoax to scare the millions of people downloading music.....

....still some measures have been taken into accounts---> dunno how many in total but atleast a few colleges in the state of florida have all p2p sharing banned from the campus internet.

dont do artist make their money from merchandise and concerts anyways?

Not really fair, by any means, but I have to say that she was in the wrong. Bet she wishes she'd have bought those albums now.

Luckily it's legal to download here, as long as you don't sell.

That's a whole lotta shit. Didn't they take into consideration that she's a single mum and having to pay that kind of money, she'd probably have to burn her whole savings and sell some properties to make up for it. Where's the fairness in this?
