I could live without "Can Do It." This band doesn't need to have one goofy song per CD, do they? It wouldn't shock me when I open the CD if I saw this:

Being a big fan of Deris-era Helloween, this is definitely on my "Must Listen To" list.

Truthfully, I don't really have a problem with the cover art. Looks kind of
"1950's Magazine Ad"-ish.

Where can you get that limited release version(the 10,000 US limited edition)?

Probably anywhere. because there's a good chance the album won't even sell all 10,000 of those copies in the US.

I have been in a DeriseraHelloween mood latley, so I listened to Rabbit Don't Come Easy. Oh how awesome is that gem you ask? So awesome that I may have to punch you in the ear if you haven't heard it. This new one is just as good. I love it. My final quote is a 91/100. Album of the year for me period(.)

usually straight from the first time I fall in love with every Helloween album, but after the first listen to GWTD I thought it was rather mediocre, however, after many spins i like it more and more. it's definately some of the best songwriting in powermetal history, unfortunately I still don't like the production after listening to it a few time. i just listened to TDR and KOTSK and they have way better production and Deris has way stronger vocals. The big problem with GWTD is still the lack of actually any bass though you throw on full bass on your stereo. Grosskopf is definately one of the best bassists ever (together with Steve Harris and the MW bassist, was it Demaggio?) and they should give him more responsibility.

However, this album is anyways even with these faults definately a 90+ and I really look forward for the tour with Gamma Ray and Axxis!

I heard As Long As I Fall just now, and I like it. It reminds me of some of the softer songs on Rabbit Don't Come Easy. Emotional, and a little new-agey.

Wow, I'm only on song six, but this album is kickass so far. I'm surprised at the thrashier direction- it sounds like a sequel of sorts to The Dark Ride so far. How people are saying this sounds like Keeper 3 is beyond me.

I noticed from the many reviews I encountered that most people think this is TDR 2. From the opening intro to As Long As I Fall being the next If I Could Fly and even The Saints as a better version of All Over The Nations. I think this is the best album Helloween have released since TDR and that is still my fav. pumpkin album.

I was reading the other day the article at metalstorm about the premiere of Gambling With The Devil. There, Weikath was saying how he doesn't have anything against TDR now, but that the riffs on the new one are more complex and generally better since on TDR they are as he said it "riffs like 15 years old can play". Well simple or not that is what makes the album so good imo.

I guess I can see where he's coming from. There aren't really any overtly complex or technical riffs on The Dark Ride. Actually, many of them are just one note played several times at different lengths. Such as the main riff for Escalation 666.

Of course, that's not a knock against the actual music. It's still a high quality Helloween album.

Is that supposed to be a sarcastic joke that i did not get? It would almost be equal correct to say this is Chamleon 2, since it's really that different. The dark ride is very dark and serious, when this one is very happy and hopeful (somebody that would only heard final fortune and dreambound could think these are very religous guys that preach about god and stuff). TDR is very bassguitar driven while this album has unfortunately hardly no bass at all. The only thing that I find common with TDR is that they both kick ass as most Helloween releases.

Actually, most of the bandmembers in Helloween are Christian. So several songs (such as Salvation, We Damn The Night, Lavdate Dominum, etc) are very Christian in nature. Even though Helloween isn't technically a "Christian Rock" band.

Helloween doesn't call themselves a Christian band, so people have been ignoring the songs about Christianity, acting like they're something else. Helloween have been doing it since day one.

Me too, when Kill It came on I was like "this isn't what I remember helloween sounding like...".

I think the production is pretty good. The riffs and drumming sound absolutely huge. Maybe it's because I'm a bassist, but I can hear the bass just fine... it's just doing the unfortunately stereotypical metal thing of playing along with the rhythm guitar 95% of the time. Only thing I don't like is Andi Deris's cleaner singing where it sounds modified or smth =\

While there are some happier songs on here (as there are on The Dark Ride- All Over the Naaaaaations), I find the mood on Gambling to be mainly darker- like The Dark Ride.

This is a lot more aggressive (except for Can Do It ). Kill It is fucking mean!!
