They are re-recording a bunch of old songs. The only plus side is it is coming with a second disc that is a tribute cd.

All of Germany seems to have run out of ideas all of a sudden.

Redoing AJFA could be a good idea. At least it would keep them away from pop-punk.

Metallica doing it would be pointless. There's 2 very good reasons for the re-records:

1. A lot of these old Thrash bands suffered from their albums having piss-poor production, and in the case of Destruction, the songs benefitted greatly from the re-records. Metallica always had top-notch production on their albums, even Kill Em All.

2. It's a good way to get the music back on store shelves. I can walk into hasting's right now and pick up Thrash Anthems, which is rather nice. I had to special order anything pre-Antichrist, and it gets the music in the hands of people unfamiliar with the bands. A person who's never heard Destruction, Sodom, Tankard, etc is highly unlikely to special order one of their albums. This way maybe the re-records might catch a newbie's eye, and if they like what they hear, they will seek out the bands back-catalogue which leads to even more album sales. I really see no problem with bands doing this, as it leads people to eithier discover or re-discover their Classic Albums.

I was making a sarky, anti-Metallica joke from the guy who just bought Reload and St Anger, but never mind.

Charles is right about AJFA, though.

I was merely defending these bands doing the re-records.

Lars and James would just bury Rob Trujillo in the mix to haze him.

Newsted's site used to have remixed tracks from AJFA to download where the bass was actually noticeable. Too bad his site is currently down though.

Oh, don't get me wrong. Those redone Destruction songs sound great.

I think these things are more from the band listening to their early recordings and thinking "hey those are really good songs but the recording quality could be better" than any sort of cash grab or whatever... unfortunately they don't really realize they might not be able to replicate the same magic as the originals had despite their poor recordings

maybe i'm just an optimist :\

I didn't like the Destruction re-recording, the Sodom one will be cool but Tankard doesn't need it. Zombie Attack has a great sound.

As I said, Tankard doesn't need it. These songs sound basically the same. If anything Tankard should of re-done their first 2 demos, now that would be cool. As for this album, you don't need it.
