Seriously, am I the only one who considers Seven Seals to be terribly sub-par for Primal Fear? About half the songs sound like they're recycled from Jaws of Death, which was their creative nadir to begin with, and Demons and Angels is totally ripped off Lightyears from Home as well. It's kind of obvious the Mat Sinner is running out of ideas when the Sinner cover Question of Heaven is far and away the best song. The only other one on there that strikes me as truly memorable is the title track, which just so happens the be the most (for PF) atypical track on the album, so maybe that means they should start "experimenting" a little more often. But then again there's "In Memory", which is total Creed/Nickelback/Staind/other dime-a-dozen post grunge crap worship.
I think you might be. Seven Seals was Primal Fear's best album since Nuclear Fire...it may even be better than Nuclear Fire. So many killer tracks "Demons & Angels" (which totally kills Lightyears From Home, by the way), "Evil Spell", "All For One", "Immortal Ones" and the bonus track "Higher Power". There is not one bad song on the album, however i do find myself sometimes skipping "Diabolus" and "A Question Of Honour".
That being said, I've never considered that Primal Fear have released a bad album. All of them are excellent and each around the same level as the previous. But i just thought with Seven Seals, that the band really lifted a notch, went up another level so to speak.
As with the new album, after listening to those samplers, i'm looking forward to it, but remain undecided. I like the ballad with Simone Simons and the second track was typical PF. The first track will take a little time to get used to.
I am wondering what has happened to Tom Nauman? He did not record on the album and seems to be no longer part of the band. Henny Wolter has now returned. I dont mind Wolter's playing, but i really enjoyed Nauman axe-shredding. Thats something i will most certainly miss on the new album.
