Ya i would rate it above 95 also. This is the best overall album they have ever put out. While i do like their speedier stuff on the previous three albums this one has no weak songs. It is amazing. It is really heavy and very melodic. Roy Kahn is just incredible. This is probably my album of the year so far.

Good Review and score too Marty! I have never been so impressed by any Kamelot album. I would emphasise even more that this is much heavier than any other Kamelot album. A lot heavier guitar crunch. Good thing too because IMO Epica was sounding a bit too light for a metal band.

Peace............

This album rules.

I'd give it a 96 or so.

Top 10 so far this year.

The one thing that could change for this album to be a perfect 100 in my book, would be including more interludes and intros, and perhaps even more experimenting (cannot go wrong for Kamelot).

Really good interludes, like those in Epica, Blind Guardian - NiME and this album creates continuity in the music and elevates the CD from being simply a collection of great songs.
I believe it's one of the reasons why Queensrÿche's Operation Mindcrime remains their best work yet.

One thing the review didn't mention is the lyrics, wich are miles ahead of most in metal.

Why no purple on the cover art? it was their theme/signiture color.

This album took me a while to get into, and for a while I was rating it late 70s to early 80s... But then one day, I just got it, and now I can't stop listening. Incredible album, and definitely deserves a score in the 90s.

I liked Karma very mucg, but didn't like Epica and this is even worse than Epica. Kamelot were masters of speed metal, but this midtempo powermetalscene is just overcrowded. The production is awsome, but the songs are plain boring and sound like any of those 1000 other powermetal bands out there. All songs except one is midtempo *yawn*

72/100

Do you guys know what the difference between the digi and the jewel case versions? I won't wait on the digi if only the packaging is different.

Thanks...

To me Karma was their most boring album.

I've only heard March Of Mephisto, and it amazes me. I also love Shagrath's vocals. Rest assured, I'm picking this album up as soon as I can.

Yes indeed. I'm no Dimmu Borgir fan, but his vocals were a very nice touch, and I would have even appreciated hearing more of them on the album.

I gotta disagree with you guys. There is no doubt about the album being good but Epica and Karma blow this away. The songwriting is more complex but at the same time there is more wankering and I found myself bored at many parts. The overall tempo is significantly slower and I thought that Kamelot was an uptempo power band. The whole thing with adding interludes has gotten old. Use that production time to improve the songs. I like it more than most of the nonsense that passes for power metal nowadays but this release let me down (by Kamelot standards at least).

I wholly agree with Jay. Good album but the song writing was better in the past and the album does get boring at times

I wasn't too impressed by the videos but they were shorter than the album versions so maybe they are better...I will probably buy the album but I don't expect them to top Epica...Epica is fucking godly!

Ya i don't feel that the videos are really good representations of the songs on the album.
