“We’re currently working on our fourth album, and we’re reverting to the narrative style for that one. I don’t want to give the plot away right now, but the new one has to do with this gift that Omar found for me when he went travelling once. The gift came with a story that was attached to it, and we’re trying to re-interpret the story again.

(lolol they're getting married!)

Awesome! In the scene of relatively commercial music, I don't think there is any band doing things as great as these guys at the moment.

I really tried to like the album I downloaded, I mean I really tried...just can't get past the shit-awful vocals though.

Yea me too. Sometimes I try to be open minded and like something that everyone praises but let's face it, sometimes some bands just plain suck.

._. h8

...in others news

apparently omar is also releasing another two albums this year (?) on top of his solo project that is already out and the new Mars Volta album. There's the soundtrack to the movie El Bufalo De La Noche and a collaboration of some sort with Zach Hill (drummer from Hella).

Quote:
Rodriguez-Lopez has also composed the score to the upcoming film El Búfalo de la Noche, the new film from Guillermo Arriaga and Jorge Hernandez Aldana. The release date and track info for this recording have yet to be announced. In addition, it is currently unclear if this will be a Mars Volta release or an Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Group release.

In addition Rodriguez-Lopez recently completed a collaboration with Zach Hill of the band Hella. Rodriguez-Lopez has stated it will be "heavier" and "mostly guitars"

I'm always intrigued by what non-metal musician's idea of "heavy" is :P

De-Loused in the Comatorium definitely. I can't really imagine liking the other two if they were the first 'd heard by the band. For me I basically listened to De-Loused until I thought it was good/ok, then listened to Frances the Mute and it totally blew me away :O

imo relationship of command/deloused/frances/amputechture are about equal... they all kind have a different appeal to them

Yeah what's impressive is not only do they pump out albums yearly, they change their sound and album formula a bit every time.

I look forward to this release, as I always look forward to a new TMV release.

TMV:

1. De-loused in The Comatorium
2. Tremulant EP
3. Amputechture/Frances The Mute (tie)

I wish Cedric would go back to singing like he did on de-loused
