Nile are a better band, Decapitated are cooler.

Eh, they fit right in with that crowd these days. Modern Slayer is certainly dumbed down enough for the Papa Roach crowd.

Dream Theater, November 9th. It's the first show I'll be going to on my own as I'll be 16 by then. If they don't play Metropolis I may have to kill Mike Portnoy.

Just found out Symphony X are going to be supporting DT. I seem to have a knack for picking shows with good supports, as the three major shows I have seen have all had excellent support acts.

They most definatly wont. they just released a new album. They will probably play most of it, then pepper the set with some shorter songs from their discogrpahy

Nine minutes is pretty short for DT. They play a different set every night, so anything is possible. Have you seen them before? and if so what were they like?

They were good, but when I saw them they played the entire Octavarium album straight through. I was pleased as I thought it was a good album. They also played As I Am and Take the Time. Others may differ in their opinion of this but I feel that a Dream theater concert goes too long. There come a time when stopping leaves the crowd happy and wanting more, but if you give it to them, they will be bored. I think that a show shouldn't run much more than an hour. If that doesn't bother you however then you will enjoy it. I am not sure how much of their set they change up each night.

Really? If any band I really wanted to see only played for an hour, I would be pretty pissed.

I generally hope for at least an hour and a half or two hours of music from the headliner of a show :o

Yeah. Tool played for 1hr 50 mins and were fantastic. Motley Crue played for 2 1/2 hours and got a little boring towards the end. Still, I think Dt should be able to hold my attention for a full set. They're not doing "An Evening With..." show, so I'd say they'll play for about 2-2 1/2 hours. At 15 shows they'll be playing Images And Words in it's entirety. I'd quite like them to do that when I see them.

Really now? I am going to be seeing them in August and that wold be incredible. Great album.

The only show i have seen where the headliner played that long was Roger Waters, and he had an intermission.

Saw Paul Dianno last night, actually it was really good, he of course played alot of old Maiden songs and believe it or not he did a great job with those songs, Phantom Of The Opera and Remember Tomorrow were just espectacular, he played with Mantra a thrash band from Costa Rica so that gave his own songs a more aggressive style wich worked great, Impaler and Children Of The Revolution were fantastic.

Since i was part of the staff i drank a few beers with him after the show :dio: he is a cool guy.

I was at a festival this weekend. I saw Anathema - excellent, Tarot - pretty good, The Gathering - good but they can do better and My Dying Bride - godly. Stupid Within Temptation were headlining, I would have skipped them but my gf wanted to see them, what a bore. I didn't see After Forever the last day, I heard they were pretty good.

Dismember two days ago (We are Dismember and we are Death Metal!!!) - just as they promised with their first words, a great evening of death metal.

Atheist yesterday - something out of this world, I'm glad I caught these guys on this farewell tour. They play tomorrow at Graspop and the next day at Hellfest in Clisson, France, and I think they'll have one final show in New York sometime this summer. If you have a chance to see them in one of these locations grab it, it's worth every penny and, sadly, it's really the last chance.

I saw Atheist last year at Bloodstock but unfortunately jumped ship halfway through to go to the Nocturnal Rites signing. The taxi driver that took us to the festival had also taken Atheist there earlier and he was saying how all their gear had gone missing in transit - and it made a really bad impact on the show. They were using borrowed equipment and the sound was all over the place. Shame.
