 Post subject: New Darkestrah

So has anyone else heard the new Darkestrah (Epos) yet? I have to admit I wasn't very impressed with Sary Oy, but this is something on another level. A single, 30+ minute track that is really quite good.

If I had to think of a brief way to describe it, it's kind of like the sound, well maybe... imagine Negura Bunget's Om (the folkish and traditional aspects in particular), but written and executed more along the lines of what Lunar Aurora did on their split with Paysage d'Hiver and you're part of the way there...

Really, this one caught me by surprise. Check it out.

I've heard it, excellent slab of black metal. More along the lines of Embrace of Memory than Sary Oy.

Reminds me of Nargaroths Rasluka Part II (in terms of riffs not atmosphere). Lots of tremolo picking.

Atmoshperically it has some theme about water or something, which is cool cos the riffs kinda make me feel like im inside a wave or surrounded by water

I thought Epos was really impressive, and I was another person that found Sary Oy at least little overhyped.

Brilliant album. I have to track down their older works now.
