After a quick visit to their website I found this.

After the worldwide success of previous album "The winter wake", we are proud to announce all the details about ELVENKING new album.
The album title is "THE SCYTHE" and it will be released on September 14th through AFM records in all European countruies.
Here are our licensee partners over the world so far:

Canada: PHD
Russia: CD Maximum
Japan: tba
South-America: Laser Records
More news about release dates in these countries to follow.

As previously announced lyrically it is a theme-album about Death and all the songs are releated to the topic.
Here is the complete tracklist for the European edition:

1- The scythe
2- Lost hill of memories
3- Infection
4- Poison tears
5- A riddle of stars
6- Romance & Wrath
7- The divided heart
8- Horns Ablaze (digipack limited edition bonus track)
9- Totentanz
10- Death and the suffering
11- Dominhate

The digipack version should include also the video for the song "The Divided Heart". More news on other editions and bonus tracks included to be announced soon.

It should be interesting to hear Elvenking do a theme album about Death. I expect the folk tunes to reflect that so I hope they can pull it off.

I know nothing about their music but dude does that cover totally rule! One of the bestest covers I've seen in a long time. It'd be cool to find a big version and either have it as PC wallpaper or print it. :dio:

Ok, so I'm waiting for my ride for the night and I just noticed my Elvenking download is finished (I'm buying this for all tha haters in da house). Anyway, I have to say that this is Elvenking par material. I have to give it a better listen (especially when I'm sobor), but from what I've heard this is damn awesome!

Elvenking update... album of the year.

I'm exagerating, but it is damn good. It's heavier and more progressive than anything they have done.

Sry I didn't post before but i'm still undecided. At first this album was a chore to listen to, I didn't like it at all. It's been slowly growing on me with each listen since then. At first I was only hearing some weird progressive parts mixed in the songs that just didn't belong there and Damnagoras' bad vocals on several songs. I'm surprised at myself how my opinion changed drastically, that's why i said it was a difficult listen. The album started from 50 and now is in the high 70's, so I guess the score will increase in the following weeks.

I just wish I didn't see that stupid video. Now that image is burned into my head. So lame.

Yup, I'll be less forgiving than you (review on 28/09/07). Too many "urghs" "whoa-oh's" and "chugga-chuggas" for my liking.

I don't have my hands on this CD yet, but my oh my, the range of reviews for it popping up are incredibly diverse. I'm reading everything from, "It's pure mallcore/nu-metal garbage" to "it's one of their best ever."

Those that have heard it - any thoughts/details? I thought the Winter Wake rocked very very hard. Was hoping for a continuation of that....

Winter Wake was my favorite of last year and no this is nothing like that album. This is much proggier and yes has some signs of crybaby I hate myself stuff in there. But there are stlill some really good songs. If you're a fan of Elvenking get it, I still love it. I think I'll give it a final rating of 79/100. I will say, I hope they do not continue in this direction though.
