seriously though, the speculation about Tarja's replacement has been going for months and now that it's here, well... I am unexcited.
I understand how you feel. I think it's just because they chose someone no one has heard of as opposed to a well-known singer from another band.

I'm really glad it was someone unknown. It's alot fresher and newer than some singer everyone already knew about. With a singer from another band ie: within temptation, if it was Sharon, people would probably make up stupid names like "within-wish" "night temptation"

so I'm glad.

I agree in fact I was hoping for some new blood vs someone that everyone already knows.Allows NW to start fresh and build her from the ground up much like they did with Tarja from the beginning of the band.

Good one to pick a unknown singer, now let's see what she can do on stage.

It's not really that, it's just speculating and waitng are always more exciting than the actual results.

Wow, the sound clips actually sound pretty good, still too short to determine what the new album is gonna be like. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to the new NW album more now than before, and it looks like Anette should do just fine as the new NW singer.

Anette's vocals get kind of buried behind the instruments and Marco's vocals... seems like although she has a nice voice she lacks the power or it was simply badly mixed in.

I was trying to come up with some sarcastic reply for this like "Yeah, if people started saying 'night temptation' I'd have to kill myself" but then I realized it wouldn't be funny.

So huzzah.

I think "Eva" pretty much sums up everything that I don't like in music. Seriously.

The other samples are a little more interesting though. I don't care for the new singer's voice, hell, I'm not even sure half of what she's doing qualifies as singing. Some of it sounds more like shouting on pitch (as my girlfriend put it). I like Marco's singing, and their voices seem to sound good together but Marco is also really drowning her out in the mix, so it's a little hard to be sure. I also don't really care for the guitar tone or some of the (bland) riffs. However, there are hints of a little more energy and a more adventurous sound here, and that's something I thought Once really lacked (among many other things). ... So despite the new vocalist and a few things here and there, I am interested in hearing the final product. I'm certainly more interested with these than I was with the samples from the last album which, granted, isn't saying much, but still...

Big LOL!

Whatever happened to that bint?

Anyway, some of these samples sound good, soem not so good.

I'm glad the new singer is an unknown, but I'd have prefered a soprano.

The band now sounds a lot like Within Temptation, but I'm not sure this is a good thing for me. I love Within Temptation, but I'm not going to be too thrilled if Nightwish is going to sound just like them.
I want Nightwish to sound like Nightwish.

.... so yeah, I may be wishing they had stuck with Tarja's operatic style.

Toumas has replaced a truly unique distinctive frontwoman/vocalist with a generic, bland, and dull singer. I know all about giving it a chance and waiting for the full release, so don't counter with that argument. I just don't think it takes a musical genius to tell that she will never fill Tarja's shoes. Plus the music sounds just as boring as her voice. It sounds like rehashed "Once" material. Oh well.

As a Nightwish fan that dates from the very beginning, this is just unacceptable.

Well, I'm not going to defend her, particularly based on what I've heard so far, but Anette wasn't brought into the band to fill Tarja's shoes, obviously. This band has been in decline since Century Child (actually Wishmaster imo). At this point, especially for longtime listeners of the band, nothing should come as a surprise or disappointment unless you've been (blindly) clinging to them for too long already.

Listening to Eva and the samples, sure it's no better than the original nightwish, but it's enjoyable. And I've bought my tickets to see them live already. I'll stay true to the end :D har har

You're right. I agree with you about the steady decline. I was hoping for a resurgence of old when they decided to replace Tarja. One can only hope but alas those hopes have been dashed. Poor Nightwish.

So they're releasing 2 singles now Eva and Amaranth they must realy want to promote this new singer and album.
