having listened to Zos Kias Cultus and Demigod, i can't see why people keep comparing them to Nile.

Yeah, Nile is excellent and Behemoth is just pretty good. I don't get the comparison either.

Emperorblackdoom: i have to admit i'm not a fan of Behemoth. i mean i respect them and all that, and they obviously have something good going on, but it doesn't tickle my fancy.
the only song off the 2 albums i heard that i can say i loved is "slaves shall serve", which kills.

Eternal Idol: i think Nile have only gotten better. i mean the music isn't that much different, but the production (especially on Annihilation) really helps.

The first proper track on Annihilation was enough to prove Nile's relevance. That loooooong soloing is so brilliant...

Really? That's something completely unexpected for me, but awesome at the same time. Now I'm extremely anxious to get this.

Nile hasn't even been interesting since The Catacombs. They just sound like generic br00tal Death Metal band #4,572 now. Good drumming but that's about the only thing that stands out about them anymore.

I'm stoked about hearing new Behemoth material.

Nile are not generic "br00tal death metal" , sorry...

Eh, they're really not my thing. Death Metal has to be truly outstanding and/or extremely unique for me to care about it. Or in the case of Behemoth, just crushingly fucking heavy.

Azrael: I follow and share your opinion. I do like Behemoth but I don't understand the hype.

EI is about the last person here whose opinion I'd question normally but I have to here. I'm not a brutal death fan normally either but I love Nile because they are pretty damn unique, outstanding, and heavy. Most importantly I think Nile is a cut above the rest because they avoid pop song structures---which I've probably said 50 times on this forum that that is hugely important to me.

Don't most death metal bands... or at least if tech/brutal death metal bands have choruses I can't tell :P

I was bored to death by the Black Seeds of Vengeance and I haven't been back since. Don't get me wrong, they are talented, I just can't get into them for whatever reason. I'm extremely picky about my Death Metal. I enjoy a lot of Death Metal, but it's far from my favorite genre.

I finally managed to give this bad boy a few careful listenings. My opinion: the riffing is less brutal then on Demigod, but somehow more interesting; Nergal seems to have a much more natural sound to his growl than on Demigod, I like it a lot; the soloing is, in most cases, exceptional; we find all sorts of choirs and keyboard insertions, as well as some acoustic passages, all unexpected, but all very well placed and tastefully done - this little tricks really elevate the album; the guitar sound crushes you with heaviness, but the songs are somewhat more melodic then before; the song with Warrel Dane slays supreme, it may be the best song I heard all year; Inferno kicks ass.

So yeah,

Thanks for the impressions!Your prior input on the new Vital Remains was spot on imo,so i'll go with you on this one too.If people like Behemoth then they should give fellow Poles Trauma a listen.Less experimental but slightly more technical and just plain heavy.Their Unique Leader release Determination is one of my new favs, the song The Loneliest being my favorite./Rant/Recc.

The anticipation surrounding BEHEMOTH’s new album, The Apostasy, continues to build to epic proportions as its July 17th release date approaches. The disc’s striking cover art and track listing can now be viewed on the band’s official MySpace page. The band will also post a new track online next week, which perfectly demonstrates just how devastating their new album truly is, so stay tuned.

Tracklist:

I Rome 64 C.E
II Slaying The Prophets Ov Isa
III Prometherion
IV At The Left Hand Ov God
V Kriegsphilosophie
VI Be Without Fear
VII Arcane Hereticae
VIII Libertheme
IX Inner Sanctum
X Pazuzu
XI Christgrinding Avenue

Cover:

BEHEMOTH will return to the U.S. this summer on Ozzfest 2007 having landed the direct support, non-rotating slot right before second stage headliners Hatebreed. See below for their complete touring itinerary.

These Polish metal titans recently posted a new video clip on their official YouTube page:, which documents their latest photo session.

While most bands struggle to evolve and stay vital within the extreme music genre, BEHEMOTH manages to do so effortlessly. The Apostasy is destined to continue the legacy.

"BEHEMOTH will blow you away with their intensity and musicianship."
--Lambgoat

"BEHEMOTH is the maximum combination of extremity and atmosphere."
--Metal Maniacs

"Top notch death metal that effectively combines brutality and intelligence."
--Outburn
