And now, for the comic relief portion of the show, I present AMG's review:

. "I will only let you breathe my air that you receive. Then we'll see if I let you love me." :omfg:

By the way, is anybody else here reminded of Daffy Duck when they think of the song-title Shoot Me Again?

I listened to about half the album on YouTube, but then I had to stop because it was honestly giving me a headache.

I'm still alive and well.

I stand by my (until now hehe) secret opinion that it has maybe 2 or 3 really good songs on.

But sure, it has several moments of embarrasment on it as well. Sometimes you really are cringing.

I kind of agree with you on this. it has a few good riffs scattered about here and there. I think this album is the muscial equivalent of Plan 9 From Outer Space, that kind of "Oh God, this is terrible but I have to keep listening," feeling

I think most any album that gets repeatedly slammed or endless heaps of praise doesn't quite live up the claims. I don't think that's an exception with St. Anger either. However, that it's "not as bad" as it's been made out to be isn't saying much either. That album is awful on so many levels. Though on further inspection, it could be said that the awfulness here is something even beyond the scope of the album itself and that separating all of those elements is difficult.

It's that same kind of difficulty that makes interpreting any remarks about it now a hard task in itself. And if you buy into the comments now, you almost have to question the comments from then. It becomes almost as much of a psychological analysis of the listener(s) as it is a musical one of the album.

I could think of a number of things that might have made this album "better", but of what real value is that? Do we listen to albums because of what might have been or what is?

All that said, I found "Frantic" to be one of the more overall listenable songs on there along with "Dirty Window". I also found the sound of the DVD version to be more digestable than that of the CD. But I've long since sold my copy, and I honestly can't remember every song on there.

Clearly, however, it's worth pointing out that "Shoot Me Again" came far too late in the track sequencing. It should have been no later than the third or fourth track for maximum effect. After that, the vocal line with the title lyrics should have been repeated between every subsequent song. By the eighth or ninth song, it could easily have been expanded to include the entire chorus of "Shoot Me Again"'s. (/humor) ;)

:dio: waiting in line to pick up my copy of St. Anger the day it came out.

:P in the car looking at some of the titles on the back whilst unwrapping it in the car.

 about 1 minute into the album

 realizing the title track really has been playing for that long.

 the realization that my $15 was gone.

 the realization tha tmillions more have probably already bought the album and don't know what they are abotu to get.
