Do you have a source for this???

If it is true, I agree, it will be the top CD 2007.

.:crast:.

I read about it on a couple of BM forums. The cited source is the Southern Lord (who will be distributing it in the US) mailing list.

Good enough for me! If the new CD is anywhere close to "Si mon..." or "Kénòse" [did I get those `´ right?] it's going to blow 2007 to pieces.

Both Sigh and Leviathan (I think) are realeasing new albums this year, those could easily be my albums of the year.

I heard about that too so it's probably happening. There can be no competition, it will be the album of the year.

Well... lets just see and hear it first. I'm rather sceptical about it myself, everything after Si Monumentum blablablbaa has been a bit meh for me. But I'm hoping for the best.

I liked Kènosé a lot. Very few bands have pulled off that kind of progressive and original musical approach in black metal without sounding gay.

I agree. Kenose was amazing. The last thing they did, Diabolus Absconditus (the song from some compilation) was a letdown though. But I'm sure the next one will rule.

Forgot this one!

Pyöveli - The New Renaissance Of Speed & Thrash Metal

Pyöveli is the best thrash metal band in Finland. The CD will be out later this year on Witches Brew.

Went and checked these guys out on MySpace after seeing this, and I got a question...does the production sound on CD like it does on these songs?

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... D=85728687

I'm not really into black metal at all, so I was thinking maybe it's just the raw black metal production, but it sounds really bad to me...

No, DsO doesn't sound like that at all anymore. The first track is from "Infernal Battles" which had very poor production and frankly I don't think was very good. The second track is from "Inquistors of Satan" which was somewhat better produced and also a much better album.

More recent DsO such as Kenose or SMRC have quite clear production for black metal.

No no no, it's not raw anymore. Neither is their music, really.

The production sounds much more clear and organic. I love it.

All right, glad to hear that the production on their newer stuff isn't like that, because I couldn't even really make out of what was going on in the song. then again, that I was listening to it on MySpace with iPod earphones couldn't have helped...

Would you guys recommend Kenose or SMRC as a good start to this band? Do you think they're a good starting spot for black metal? The only black-ish CD I have is Between Two Worlds, and that's not even really black metal.

You should definitely start with Si Monumentum. They are both excellent black metal albums, but SMRC is a little better than Kenose. Plus, Kenose isn't quite as straightforward, and wouldn't be a good introduction to DsO.

As for your second question, I would say yes. As emperorblackdoom accurately stated, the production on their last two albums is pretty crisp for black metal. If you end up liking both of their previous two albums, chances are you'll find a lot to like in the genre.

Mmm, I think I prefer Kenose. It works better as an album for me. SMRC has my one of my favourite BM tracks on it, but it kind of suffers because of that because it means I rarely actually listen to it all the way through. Kenose keeps you going a bit more.

As for albums of the year, the new Megadeth is going to come high, although the Fox news ranting is a pretty major downside.

Well, after 2 plays I love it so far. Probably a step up from the last one, although continuing in the same spirit.
