Really? i think that Sex And Religion is huge hit on Vai's discography, mainly because of Devin,i think that was the first time i heard Devin, i remember watching an interview on headbangers ball and i thought: "Wow this guy is fucking crazy!"

It's funny, I was first a fan of SYL. I remember buying Heavy As A Really Heavy Thing in 1995, in San Antonio, TX, while one town pass in basic training. I was hooked. Then years later I stumbled across Devin's solo stuff on the old mp3.com. I was hooked. I also own Sex & Religion since it came out, because I absolutley loved "Deep Down Into The Pain." It took me a while to put it all together and go, "What a minute...this is the same singer in each band? WTF?" Haha.

Anyway, like I said, I love "Deep Down Into The Pain," but I've never liked the album as a whole. Too much Steve Vai noodling for me, and not enough really good songs.

Yeah deep down into the pain kick ass, but i do like vai's guitar playing so thats why i think its a hit (for Vai's standards)

I personally think that Devin/Vai also worked great on Synchestra, Vai's solo on triuhmp its fucking awesome

Just finished listening to it, reminds me a lot of Synchestra with a bit of Infinity and Strapping Young Lad in the first half. I'll have to listen to it more. The drum machine and voice overs are kinda annoying >.>

Devin should make a whole album of the purty, relaxing music that makes you feel like you're floating on clouds. ^_^

I've listened to it three times now, it's damn good although doesn't quite top Neurosis's album for album of the year. I like the self-referencing in Color Your World :P

PS WTF I THOUGHT DEVIN WAS CANADIAN >___<

I had no idea he sang for Steve Vai? What year was that stuff? It's horrible but makes for cool trivia.

Early 90s. He was 19 years old.
