Yet another band I've been meaning to check out for a while, but didn't get around to it... until now. I plan on buying My Brother The Cow on Half.com today. What does everybody here think of them?

They're alright, but probably the weakest of the Seattle scene that I've heard. I used to have Sweet Oblivion, which is a worthwhile listen.

Well, I've just bought My Brother The Cow on Half.com three days ago. When it comes in and I've listened to it all the way through, I will post my thoughts on the album.

I've also bought A Matter Of Life And Death by Iron Maiden, which I've already listened to on AOL Music several times. Excellent album, although the "same-ness" of Iron Maiden's music is actually pretty apparent on AMOLAD due to the album's more epic nature.

My Brother The Cow came in yestarday and I listened to it in the car this morning. Overall: Awesome Album! I love the band's bluesy/folky edge (reminds me of bands like ZZ Top and even Motorhead), and the songs are just all-around fun rock songs. With the exception of may be one song, there isn't a single serious moment on this album. The song 1995 dates it (after all, the album was released in early 1995 - I was in sixth grade at the time, Donkey Kong Country was the biggest video game on the market, and Billy Madison was in theaters for about a month by then). But that doesn't at all tarnish the album.

Overall Rating: 94/100

I have 'piece of cake' . From what i understand it was their most comercialy succesful albums but the band didn't really like it.
I find it to be an interting album to check toss in when i am in an Iggy Pop binge. I think it has some of that same sort of feeling to it. Theres alot garage rock style to it, but it has more of a punk rock energy which can be quite fun. Plus it is performed much better than most bands going for this style. To get a good feel for the album you could DL the song "no end in sight" The songs are varied, but the generaly have that feel.

I wish Mudhoney would have been able to make their carreers work out better than they did, They easily could have been the defining Seatle grunge band, instead of Nirvana, which sort of road their coat tails.[/i]
