this is a killer album !!! :D their best since Holy Land except the sound is way better here... from track 6 (the shadow hunter) til the end (an instrumental orchestral piece) it's almost perfection we're facing here !!!

so, ok, maybe their new singer is not as good as Andre Matos (he still has a truly good voice though) but I do enjoy Angra a lot more than Shaman which reminds me too much of a kinda Meat Loaf metal... and that is not good !

i'll give this album only 95/100 because of there is no surprises on the first half (melodic symphonic speed metal) though all these songs are great.

 go get it now, you won't regret it :!:

you should always read a review before posting anything... i did not, so i have to reply again... sorry

in your review, you said "With the exception of their first and only real blunder Fireworks" and i really disagree... sure, it's not as good as Holy Land or Temple Of Shadows but still a solid good heavy metal album with bombastic production (thanks to Mr Chris Tsangarides) and heads over Angels Cry and just as good as Rebirth (actually I like Fireworks a little bit more for is less speed metal orientation)...

the thing is, we don't like the same Angra : i enjoy the progressive Angra, you seem to like more the classic power metal act... I hope you'll hate their next album so I can LOVE it !!!

keep up the good work though...

I haven´t listen to the album yet, i hope to do it very soon. As for the comment about FIREWORKS I must disagree with the reviewer because I consider all Angra albums great, specially the ones with Mathos and that of course includes that one.

This is an excellent release. I too believe it is their best since Holy Land. Rebirth was great but sounded a bit too standard power metal at times and I hoped for a bit more. This album eliminates that and presents us with the most progressive Angra album to date. Also, Kiko and Rafael are shockingly better than ever. If you thought that most guitarists at this level don't need to keep improving, these guys raised the bar. The album contains the best lead work I've heard in a long while. You gotta appreciate the band not worrying about being heavy all the time either. Just like with Holy Land the album is diverse and the songs sounds like they came naturally, nothing forced and it's all good. I'd say a 93/100 is pretty much on the money. Definitely one of the year's best.

This album has made a big impression on me. I never really thought Angra was anything more than a run of the mill power metal group until this disc. It shows their versatility and songwriting prowess.

 try the p2p, as long as you don't steal music it's a good way to discover bands and so not to place your money in the wrong stuff...

the only Angra song i've heard is "Carry On" and to be honest it's terrible. the guy sounds, you know, like a total fucking fag.

if i still liked the MUSIC will i like this album? i hated those horribly high vocals.

Yeah, this album is brilliant. It's the best thing Angra has ever done. I never really dug Andre Matos' vocals either.

Hah! If you think Matos sounded terribly on Carry On (which actually lodges itself in your head after a few listens), try the KATE BUSH cover they did ten or so years ago called "Wuthering Heights".

I've taken it to myself to amuse and annoy people by playing that song. "Hey, wanna hear something extremely painful?"

This is an amazing album. It really is.

That's a really uneducated thing to say. Post that shit on a nu-metal forum or something, not here.

The very first time I heard Wuthering Heights I was surprised they had hired a girl to sing for them, but as a few more seconds went by I realized it was Matos. I didn't know if I should be amazed at his extreme capabilities, or just cover my balls and the get the hell out of there :?

Exactly. Kate Bush (aka Human Flute) is scary enough, but Matos pulling it off is worse. At least KB made it sound pretty good...

here's another thing you'd expect from the nu-metal forum: BLOW ME!!

stop being such a little girl and trying to be so open minded.

reminds me of that HUGE discussion we had some time ago when Ben posted his "Originality" rant and i said Rhapsody was ghey and everyone was shocked and suddenly started acting like you. yeah they're open minded and i'm a troll.

Shane (onde of the MetalReviewers) was the only person who actually know that i didn't mean they liked it up the ass like Ricky Martin, that i mean they were... you know, ghey.

Matos sounds all girly in that song. sure it isn't wasy for a man to go that high, but it sounds, you know, GHEY, whether you like it or not.

Sonata Arctica also sound pretty damn ghey (though not as ghey as Rhapsody or Matos) and i still love'em.

Well IMO the new singer is much better. I prefer by far Edu's voice.

he has more guts + his shriek is not annoying like Matos' when he tries to reach high notes.

but I'd say Matos is a better songwriter & he plays keyboards... so it's ex-aequo I guess...
