It's amazing that a comment like that is justification enough for you guys. They're playing Ozzfest for money. There is no other reason. Just because the band is trying to save face and give some ridiculous, nonsensical reason for playing Ozzfest doesn't change the real reason they're playing: $$$$

I have to agree with Ken on this. We all know that the Ozzfest is a money making shitfest, with a lot of poser bands getting the limelight. Although Nile and Behemoth are the only 'true bands' there, it's still obvious it's the money factor. But we can't blame them. We all know they earn peanuts and it's events like this that they can slowly earn something decent. But nevertheless, I wouldn't doubt the quality of their music at present, and in the future.

Yeah it's free, but I guess merchandise and other stuff sold at the venue are gonna be crap expensive to make up for it.

Bands pay to play in order to get some merch sales and hopefully entice a bunch of morons to buy their albums once they leave the festival.

Pay to play is the wankest form of promoting around. I hate when local bands do it.

But looking at the business side of the coin, it's a good investment. You put in some money to play, let the folks hear you, and maybe boost up your popularity and sales. A good technique.

Holy fuck, I'm mixing with to many business minded people. This is what you get when you join production.

It's all a bit hypocritical, because Nile are more or less trying to gain more exposure to the "mallcore poseur" crowd by doing Ozzfest. That said, Karl's statement is still hilarious, and true. These little shits that have never seen the likes of Nile before.

From what I've read, the bands are playing for free. They use merch sales and off-day gigs at local venues to sustain profits for this tour.

Bah I didn't expect this coming from Nile, they just want to cover themselves up saying that they will destroy the posers but the Ozzfest will remain a poser festival and they are part of it, which means they are also posers. (and it's also a way to get more known,) :lame:

So are any good bands, besides Nile or Behemoth, going to be at Ozzfest? Is the list on the Ozzfest site the final list?

I just bought a 4 pack of Monster energy drinks and got my two free tickets now I just need to decide if it is worth driving the 2 hours to see it.

No one besides headliners and main stagers get paid. otherwise you have to pay 100,000 big ones (so says the douche from the haunted)

i remember that the only reason why bad acid trip got on last year was because system of a down got them on. and even then, they were in debt about 10 grand from travel.

saying that nile is doing ozzfest for money is just stupid beyond belief. the only reason why bands go on the second stage and pay to play is for exposure. and who doesn't want a little bit of exposure? (besides elitist black metal)

the only money that nile will make off of this is t shirt sales and maybe a bit from record sales.

and i would say that it's worth going. 3 inches of blood always put on a good show, likewise with lamb of god. and i can't wait to see ozzy again. i don't know if it's worth the 2 hour drive, but it's definitely worth going if you can.

really? well if i had the choice between getting free advertisement in front of hundreds of thousands of people in ampitheater's over a summer instead of a supporting (face it, they aren't headlining material) act in clubs and small theaters. I'd go with the hundreds of thousands and free advertisement.

tons of great bands have appeared on ozzfest, the only thing is that just as many terrible bands have appeared as well.
