I've been thinking a lot about the Swedish BM band Silencer recently and was trying to write a review of their only full alum- Death- Pierce Me. So I wondered if anyone else had any opinions here on them.

They have the most batshit vocalist (who was subsequently institutionalised) I think I've ever heard, and one which most people would just piss themselves laughing about, but I think he's cool. No matter how many times you hear Death- Pierce Me, every time he comes in it's something of a shock. For me, anyway.

What I think- and a lot of the reviews at metal archives seem to agree- is that the album is one of the most effective works in BM history at conveying the feeling of a bleak descent into total lunacy. Here's a link to a song: http://www.myspace.com/silencerswe

So, does anyone that's heard the band or followed that link agree? And if not, who do you think is the best BM musician ever to have portrayed madness? I don't mean bleakness or nihilism or any of that, just plain craziness...

Me likes. Don't really have anything profound to say about them.
The CD is damn good if you can stand his vocals.

Wow! This is some amazing stuff! His vocals are quite nice, I like it when BM singers sound distinct, and the riffing is so melancholic. I'll have to seek this out.

It was Kinda similar in a vague way to a lot of bands, but pretty unique i guess.

Vocals, are only close to Urfaust or Nyktalgia or Blood Red Fog (again vaguely)

I would focus on the vocals a bit if i were to write a review of this, it thats any help...

If I ever actually do it I shall post it.

Death, Pierce Me really impressed me, although i'm not usually drawn to this kind of stuff at all.

The vocals are kind of love-or-hate. The former for me.

I have a song on my computer from a band called Silencer, the song is called The Harvest. I didn't like it, is this the same band?

Ok well the US band sucks balls. This Swedish band is much better.

I am reviving this thread as i recently got a hold of the entire release. And i must say it is very, very good! Thank you for the suggestion rio.

I used to like this band a lot, their vocalist is indeed fucking mad, he sounds like he's been chugging glass.

Musically the song Death Pierce Me is GREAT, but the vocals are not really my thing its cool though since i don't really care much about the vocals anyway.

I thought he sounded like when the guys from Monty Python are acting as women

Well I remember (last year?) when Rio discovered this band and told me about them and I was blown away. Very very good album and one of the best vocals ever.


And about being the craziest guy I think that title goes to Antaeus' vocalist guy. Has cuts all over his body and has a "I hope you die"
tatoo on his chest. He's batshit insane.

I found this very enjoyable. I was a bit undcided on the vocals however, I thought they could have been a little more gravelly instead of him squeaking all over it

Go to youtube and check out a fan made video for "sterile nails and thunderbowels". Some crazy shit going on there. Apparently it's some cult movie called "Begotten" which is just sick for the sake of being sick.
