I got The Fourth Legacy and i rather like it, except for a song or two. I also have The Black Halo in mp3 but i wasn't as impressed with that one, but admittadely i've not listened to it as a whole that many times. I guess i should get Epica or Karma next huh?

The Black Halo is a darker album, and I had to give it more listens to really appreciate it. At first, I was a little disappointed, but after some time I really got it right, and it is just as brilliant as their former records. Favourit tunes are Moonlight and Serenade.

Agreed. The Black Halo took me a really long time to get into; it was only about half a year after it came out, on my 6th or 7th listen, that I started really liking it, and now its my favourite Kamelot album.

Yeah, well i don't know, there's just something that bothers me about it. The opening track sounds like somekind of mortal combat soundtrack, red alert game music or something

I think i should listen to it some more.

I thought that was a masterpiece and I am disapointed with the direction they decided to take after that....

Little report of yesterdays concert:

Opening acts were Fairyland and Leaves Eyes. Fairyland was supposed to start at 20:00 but they started aprox 20:30. When we drove home it was about 00:15, pretty late for a concert during the week.

Anyway, Fairyland only played a couple of songs because of their limited time. They also had very limited space to use on the podium, the drumkits of Kamelot & Leaves Eyes were already build up on the podium.
Leaves Eyes had a really weird sound. The drummer was playing on an electronic drumkit and also the bass & electronic guitar sound were pushed to the back. Probably for Liv, she is of course the main attraction of the band and her voice was very clear now. But the instruments were way to soft.
Kamelot played 3 new songs of Ghost Opera: Ghost Opera, The Human Stain & Mourning Star. Simone from Epica joined the band for Somewhere in Time. There was also another female singer present on a couple of songs.

At the end I wanted to buy a shirt but the size I wanted was already sold out, wich is pretty strange for only the second show of the complete tour. So I got me the latest cd from Fairlyland, signed by the band :D

Agreed with Leaves Eyes comment. Saw them with Blind Guardian; they just aren't metal. The death vocalist was used about twice and is only in the band because he said he was husband to the singer. Weirdos.. and they'll be with Kamelot again in September. Why?

And more importantly... How were the new songs?

I heard the songs for the fist time of course and they sounded pretty good, but it is rather difficult to say after hearing them just once (live).

However, when we left the building we received the Ghost Opera single. I have been listening to it for a couple of times now and the song really rocks. If this is the standard of the whole album it should be pretty good.

I'd sell my first born for that single

This can't be happening... When Kamelot finally comes to Finland I won't be able to be there. Sometimes it's annoying to be a minor...

That's just not true. They're metal, gothic metal, their first album was quite decent. And the death vocalist is actually Alex Krull, from Atrocity, a pretty good death metal band in the beginning, they now play some sort of deathy gothic/industrial, pretty good as well, reminds me of Septic Flesh. Alex is the main composer for both bands, so he's not inthere just because he's Liv's husband. If anything, Liv is there because she's his wife. Leave's Eyes is basically all Atrocity members + Liv Kristine and I suspect they put more effort nowadays into LE because it makes a lot more money than Atrocity could.

As for Kamelot, I just heard their new single, Ghost Opera, it leaked on the internet. It seems a progression from the style of Black Halo. Equally melodic, but more complex. A very good song. If this album will be better than The Black Halo, it might well be the most important power album since Nightfall In Middle-earth.

The black halo is a decent album but Somewhere in Time is an all timer song for me. I wish they did more of that type.

Just heard the song "Ghost Opera" on Kam's myspace and it has that Black Haloish feel to it so I'm for sure getting this album when it comes out

Sounds very good to me, although the chorus is a little weird. Loving the bombast, though, and the solo is really sweet. :dio:

I hate to say it, but the new Kamelot song is making me feel pretty ambivalent. Its similar to the Haunted (Somewhere in Time) in a way, a song which I disliked at first but now love, so hopefully something similar will happen as I listen to it in the context of the entire album.
