What they failed to mention was that Ilta-Sanomat is a tabloid newspaper. Not believing this for a second.

That may be true, but I no longer find this such an odd choice if it were true.

I came home tonight and threw on early shit, and Vibeke has the chops. Tristania's recent output had her singing in a more standard style, and I think that's what we're all thinking of. On tracks like "Beyond The Veil" and "A Sequel of Decay," and especially about a minute into "Opus Relinque," from Beyond The Veil, she's doing plenty of singing that would totally fit with Nightwish. When she became more of a lead vocalist in Tristania is when she kind of stepped back from her operatic singing.

So I take back my previous comments; Vibeke singing for Nightwish would totally kick ass! :dio:

EDIT:

EVENFALL
LIBRE
A SEQUEL OF DECAY
OPUS RELINQUE

As you can see, she can absolutely do the job!

I totally agree. When I heard the news, I immediately thought of her vocals on 'Beyond the Veil'.

I'm fine with this (if it's true). :D

About a week ago I read an interview with her and it appears she is really reallly shy. Guess she wil have to work on that if she will be the new front woman of a pretty big band.

Apparently she isn't. Atleast according to herself.

I thought so, it didnt seem very likely. However Vibeke is one of my favorite singers and when she let loose she could really sing, so I was hoping. Ohhh well.

Could be damage control. How many bands/musicians do stuff like this? Van Halen recently denied rumors of a reunion with DLR; then announced the reunion a short while later; then, of course, reverted back to the Van Halen we've grown to hate over the past six or seven years or so.

I'll believe nothing until it's official, but I wouldn't be shocked if Vibeke is lying.

On the one hand, I can't believe all the speculation about this, and on the other, I'm not surprised at all...

If you can believe anything that is coming out of those close to the band, the new singer has been in the band for awhile, and the vocals for the new album have already been recorded (and have been for awhile now, apparently). There's also a quote floating around that seems to suggest that the new singer is Finnish, though that may or may not be valid. At any rate, I think it's much more likely that the band is going with a relatively unknown singer as opposed to anyone, Vibeke included, that is more popular.

Additionally, if she were only trying to deny the rumor and help delay the announcement, I don't think she would have said, "That is not true. I would not want to sing for NIGHTWISH."

Though her timing in leaving Tristania is a bit curious, I don't really think it, and the various other information out there, really coincides with joining Nightwish. I'm not going to say it's not possible, but I think it seems highly unlikely.

Yeah I thought about that as well, I would say it's unlikely that she is the new singer after a comment like that. Who knows, all I know is that until I actually hear the single myself I don't really need to know who the singer is. Most likely it will be someone whom I haven't heard before anyway.

I really only care about them releasing a killer album. Whether the singer is a normal every day singer, or a operatic genius like Tarja, I don't care. I want a good album.

Today, Nightwish exclusively reveals the cover artwork for their upcoming album "Faster, Harder, Nightwish", planned to be released in September 2007. The title reflects the band's new musical direction, faster and harder than ever. Nightwish is here to kick some ass, the days of ballads are over! The band's new logo underlines this change of style.

I think a better April Fool's joke would be to actually announce Vibeke as their singer and have some pics of them all together. Alot of people would have believed that one. Assuming it isnt true :lame:

Apparently the silhouette of the girl, in the pic, is Vibeke. Taken from here:

While the rest are just from the Once photo shoots.

You think? Similar, but I see some things in one that aren't in the other.

I don't know for sure. That's what someone said on the Nightwish forums.
