Well, I've just listened to the album on Machine Head's Myspace. Overall, an excellent record. Probably MH's best since The More Things Change (possibly even their best overall). The album basically continues the sound established on 2004's Through The Ashes Of Empires, but with more complex song structures (so complex, in fact, that there's a total of only eight songs on the album) and more variety. TTAOE was a very good album, but was also very repetitive. The Blackening remedies this, with much more variety and a more natural sound.
Overall, 88/100.
