Am I the only person who feels the chorus of the title track of MOP sounded silly? - "Master [pause] Master, blah blah blah blah, Master [pause] Master........." I found it funny too.

Yeah, I always thought the chorus was the weakest part of that track.

Haha.

Fun to know people still have that love for 'tallica.

I made a Megadeth x Metallica poll and all people tak about is Metallica.

By the way ... what would you say to an individual that claims to be a respectable heavy metal fan and also claims that "st. anger rules and rust in peace blows"?

if he's heard of Rust in Peace then it may just be his taste. i know a few respectable metalheads that like St. Anger.

Trapped under ice is an awesome tune, one of my favourite on that album. There isn't a bad track on RtL, but a couple I don't really like so much on MoP. Every single moment is badass on RiP, except for the cheesy "TERMINATE THEM" chanting bits on Take no Prisoners.

There aren't any tracks I don't like on Ride the Lightning...the only tracks I like on MOP are Battery and the title track.

I think Trapped Under Ice and Escape are both very good songs, although Fade to Black is probably my favorite.

Well metallica only did it with the "anthemic" songs like creeping death for me so it has to be rust in peace. Holy wars = best riff song ever.

This is absolutely ridiculous. This is proof of how trends sway opinions. I'm sorry. Before it became cool to hate Metallica and Lars, and respect Dave, it was the complete opposite. Everyone shit all over Megadeth. Five years ago, if this were on any metal forum, there wouldn't be a single vote for Megadeth.

It drives me nuts to see so many of you younger fans talking so much shit about an album that was a classic before you were born. It's just so easy to hate Metallica these days. It's a sickening trend. And that's exactly what it is—a trend.

Someone create a new forum for those of use who were born before 1993, please.

My thoughts exactly.

I love all of that song EXCEPT the crappy chanting.

Ha ha, those bits are great

"RETROGRAGE THEM!"
"ELASTICATE THEM!"
"MASTURBATE THEM!"
"SPERMINATE THEM!"

Classic Mustaine Cheese (not actual product)

Anyway, Rust in Peace is defintiely better than Master of Puppets, but Ride the Lightning is better than anything else Megadrth ever did so nyeh nyeh nyeh-nyeh nyeh to you, Kenneth.

They sound way better on the remastered version of RiP, IMO.

SRLSY? The vocals on the new version of 5 Magics are shocking!

Intriguing, can't remember noticing that when I heard it. All I can recall is thinking how much cooler the TERMINATE bits sounded... swings and roundabout I'd imagine...

Mettallica stole one of the main riffs from Trapped Under Ice from Impaler by Exodus. RIP is clearly better than RDL for so many reasons it's unreal I'm afraid, least of all that Mustaine actually wrote it with his own material.

Well, Kirk wrote the riff, he just wrote it for Exodus first. which is Metallica having it both ways since they kept all of Mustaine's stuff for themselves.

The main riff for Creeping Death was apparently written by Tom Hunting, however....

I voted Master, perhaps because it was one the the first real metal albums I got and holds a special place in my heart. That said it is still the most overated album ever.

Well, a lot of RTL is Mustaine material, true. Hunting definitely wrote the Creeping Death riff (I have an early Exodus recording of their version of the song, Die by Your Hand, which predates Creeping Death by quite a bit). Not sure who the writing credits for Impaler belong to.

And, while I love the chanting bits of TNP on the original version, on the remastered the chanting sucks.

I voted shortly after this thread opened but never came back to actually make a reply...

I voted Rust In Peace, and I think a lot of my thoughts have already been echoed by other posters. I've never really cared a lot for MoP; "Battery", "Master of Puppets", and "Sanitarium" are really the only tracks I like a lot. I don't play the album often at all, and that's largely because when I do, I only play those three tracks anyway. ... I much prefer Ride the Lightning and even the self-titled album as a whole compared to MoP. It's interesting, I think, to not really see "Orion" mentioned (for once), a track that I've often seen people cite as a highlight of MoP for them. I've always enjoyed "Call of Ktulu", but never that one. Maybe it's the Mustaine influence.

With Rust in Peace, I can listen from the beginning to the end and frequently still be wowed, but at worst be more than satisfied. The later-middle tracks, "Lucretia" and "Tornado of Souls", are probably the two I enjoy the least. "Hangar 18" and "Poison Was the Cure" are probably my favorites.

-Tyrion
