This is absolutely ridiculous. This is proof of how trends sway opinions. I'm sorry. Before it became cool to hate Metallica and Lars, and respect Dave, it was the complete opposite. Everyone shit all over Megadeth. Five years ago, if this were on any metal forum, there wouldn't be a single vote for Megadeth.
It drives me nuts to see so many of you younger fans talking so much shit about an album that was a classic before you were born. It's just so easy to hate Metallica these days. It's a sickening trend. And that's exactly what it is—a trend.
Someone create a new forum for those of use who were born before 1993, please.

Translation: "I have no argument, so I'm going to say that I'm older than all of you and that you're all just following a trend."
Once again, the "you're too young to have been there when it came out!" argument rears its head, probably one of the most illogical ones out there. If we're talking impact, then there's no question that Master of Puppets has had more than than Rust in Peace; but when discussing artistic quality, age is irrelevant, except perhaps in providing context. All of us here weren't alive when The Lord of the Rings was written; I suppose that should stop us from ever being able to criticize it, or say that another book is better than it? After all, it was a classic before I was born (not attacking Lord of the Rings here, just saying how absurd it is to say that since you weren't part of a scene when something came out, that excludes you from the right to criticize it). And if you can so easily state that liking Megadeth over Metallica is immediately a trend, then I can do just the opposite and say that people liking Metallica over Megadeth was always a trend in itself. Of course, I can't, because its ridiculous to just assume that everyone who likes something does so because its a trend, right?
As I said before, I do like Metallica; in fact, Ride the Lightning is in my top 25 albums of all time, and I still give Kill'Em All and ...And Justice a listen every two months or so. My contention is simply with Master of Puppets, an album I find to be incredibly overrated. There is no question for me that Rust in Peace is a better album. So Ken, while I like you, I reccomend that you stop using the fucking age argument and accept that people can have an opinion different than yours without being trendwhores or too young to appreciate blah blah blah.
Fin. Sorry if I come off as a bit of an asshole here, but seriously, everytime I see the age argument, a little part of me dies inside.
