I've gave it a few listens now, and it's a funny old album. Takes a while to grow on you, and even then it's rather dull if you're not concentrating. Definately not as good as Songs Of Darkness...

It's a pretty weak and disappointing album. The first track (to remain tombless) is very good though.

Yes, that's definately the highlight. Why was that not the single instead of Deeper Down?

Excellent question. To Remain Tombless actually would have made a great single for them too, considering it's very catchy for MDB.

The highlight is those lilting vocals he does, which are at their best as an album highlight - see The Blue Lotus off of Songs Of Darkness for proof.

I don't think it's as bad as you say overall, but it's the first one of theirs I've had real trouble with. Still, only got three, what do I know...

Yes, the Blue Lotus was a ton of fun. Which three do you have now? I always find the opinions of newer MDB fans interesting. You guys manage to see their discography with fresh eyes and catch things I forgot or disregarded long ago.

Well, the new one, Songs Of Darkness Words Of Light, and The Light At The End Of The World. Funny how I can never remember that last one, it was the first I got, left it for ages before playing because back then I was scared off by the long track lengths...

Overall, I think you have to take ALODK as a good Doom album, rather than a bad MDB album. The little I've heard with the violinist was good, hope he makes a reappearance at some point.

As well, has anyone checked out The Prophecy? The guy that drums for MDD's main band, I tried their homepage the other day but it was down.

I think you are right that I'm probably being a bit too harsh with the new album, it was just a downer after the excellent Songs of Darkness.

BTW, I've heard and enjoy The Prophecy.
