I feel you, since Haven, I don't know, they are still awesome and one of my favortie bands, but shit, after you put out albums like Skydancer, Gallery, Projector and Haven there just isn't that much left to wow me with. Damage Done left me pretty cold, Character was good and of course I will buy the new one because it is Dark Tranquility but still.....I think Insominium is out doing them these days easily with Above the Weeping World and Since it all came down, truely excellant Melodic Death Metal in the DT (older) vein.

Yeah I dunno, a lot of melodic death metal seems kind of bland to me these days, too much mid tempo stuff that just doesn't really do anything. Fiction has a few riffs that sounded like earlier DT, and even some new prog metal sounding stuff that was cool...but whenever Mikael Stanne opens his mouth those disappear and are replaced with really, really boring stuff.

I think what really get me is the choruses to the songs though, you could switch any of them from Damage Done/Character/Fiction around and besides the difference in lyrics it wouldn't change anything. They've all got that flowery keyboard starting and then Mikael Stanne does practically the same thing in every one. I kept expecting to hear him scream "empty fragile weak" or "a bitter soul that rattles empty" but then I remembered that I was listening to a different album =\

Yeah, that's the one I have. I think it is remastered, it sounds pretty good to me.

You do realize that no one listens to your opinions on music, right? You're ridiculously out of your mind.

Speak for yourself, poopface.

:omfg:

Keep it in context. Replies like he just wrote are worthless, and you know it.

Why? He just said which songs he liked best, and you know what? Someone actually agreed! Not everyone has the same taste as you have, some people just like other songs better than you, we all know we can be surprised at what track a band picks for the single. Speaking of worthless replies, you're not too bad yourself, eh.

You're boring and predictable.

Isnt it worthless to keep doing this when you arent a mod anymore?

What did me being a mod have to do with anything?

Considering every time noodles post something you only need to wait a matter of a few replies before you make a one line response to the effect of "stop being so stupid" "actually listen to it" or "you don't know a thing about music," I'd say this is a case of the pot calling the kettle black. noodles pisses me off too sometimes but stop being a wank to him just for the sake of being a wank. Your schtick is tired.

I checked out Insomnium on MySpace after seeing your post, and they seemed very "meh". I only listened to two songs (The Killjoy and The Day it All Came Down), but neither of them were very good. Maybe I'm just missing something, but I find it hard to believe that you think they are outdoing Dark Tranquillity.

On a side note, I have Character by DT...do you guys think it would be better to get this CD when it comes out or go back to Damage Done and The Gallery?

If Character is all you have, then definitely go back and get The Gallery first. Actually, I'd get The Gallery, Mind's I, or Haven before getting Damage Done, though I think they're all good albums.

Not true at all. I come to this forum to share music with people, I don't like spending my time doing that just to have someone post something utterly worthless and ignorant in reply. I like to DISCUSS music and I reply in the same way to anyone that posts crap like that, I always have.

I couldn't think of anything besides an elaborate "no, u". . His actual summary of the album was fairly good, although I didn't really hear much from The Gallery or The Mind's Eye on Fiction.

I've listened to The Gallery three times now, and it's rubbish, apart from that one track in the middle with the cool riffs. Everyone who reccomended this to me sucks.

Yeah, well, I'll keep trying to 'get' it, because I hate buying albums that people whose opinion I generally trust say is good, and then turn out to be bad. I trusted you fuckers. And you betray me. Like Jesus was betrayed by Judas.

Hahaha. I see your e-balls have grown since I'm no longer a mod. Like I said, when I spend the time trying to encourage music discussion, I don't appreciate it when someone comes along and goes "ZOMG SONATA ONLY GOT 70! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Sorry. That has nothing to do with me being a mod or not. It has to do with wasting my time.

Well, when I say something like that it's an invitation for an argument on why it only got 70 and wether or not it deserved. But anyway, you'd spend less time just ignoring it than posting a response or a complaint.

I thought it sucked like the first 20 times I listened to it, but once you get used to its lack of cohesion then its really good. I still don't think its as good as most people say though.
