Their new album is reportedly a concept album. Hmmm. After Unbreakable I only hope this album follows a similar path. That album was pretty kick ass rock album. After Eye II Eye I couldn't have imagined anything worse.

Thoughts? Anyone here besides me, Epic and VinnieVincent give a shit? :D

Scorpions have always been a hit or miss with me. A few of their songs I liked, but some of them were very poor (like a 50/50) which is probably why I never got myself to pick up any of their albums (apart from a "best of").

They've had a ton of solid albums. Actually, pretty much anything up to Crazy World is damn good, and even Crazy World is solid. After that is where you come into the hit or miss territory, I think.

I love Rock You Like A Hurricane and some others, but for some reason could never really get into it.

I think what Scorpions do best is ballady-songs. Some of the best rock-ballads ever are penned by them. I like some of their other stuff too though, like Alien Nation and some of their more obvious classics. I'm not really a big fan, but I do like 'em. And I really dig concept albums, so this might actually turn out to be interesting.

Nah, don't give a shit, but I do have tokyo tapes in my car if that counts? Back to back In trance and Burn the sky is awesome. Hard to believe these guys are still around 20 years after I last bought in album by them.

BTW guys Tokyo Tapes rules as does Virgin Killers and In Trance.

I don't really like LC or Fly to the Rainbow, but Virgin Killers, In Trance, Love Drive, Animal Magnetism and Blackout and Tokyo Tapes are pretty mandatory. LAFS is ok, the one after that sucked so I never bought anything else from them. Just moved on to heavier and better things, Scorpions were a gateway in 82 but also the first live show I ever saw.

Strangely, I've never been too terribly into this band. I like a few select songs I've heard on the radio (80's stuff), but don't actually own any of their stuff. Saw them live @ Sweden Rock in 2004, they rocked decently well I suppose.

Heh. Weird. They do have some outstanding songs, more good than bad, but they do have a good amount of stinkers.

Funny. I have all of the scorps albums and I dont really like many of the "radio" songs. I also tend to agree the ballads by this band are excellent, especially the ballads off all the early albums. Pre-Crazy world era, but I will allow "winds of change" to be considered a good ballad, tho poppier than the early 70s early 80s ballads :)
Hot & Slow best of album is an essential ballad collection IMO

I listen to it far more that the best of Rockers album!

Yeah ... that sucks.

I loved watching Maiden mock that German TV show and exchange instruments during the song. That was hilarious. I wish more bands had BALLS to do that.

You haven't seen that ??? That's one of the best moments in metal history !!!

This was present originally in the "12 wasted years" home video.

Watch Adrian. It's funny how he is the only one doing it right, as if the others weren't messing up the whole thing !

Getting back to the topic, this album is absolutely the best they've done since "Love at First Sting". It is EASILY my choice for Hard Rock album of the year (so far, til The Poodles new one comes out!!). Excellent choice teaming up with Desmond Child!!!
