As old school pointed out, the track listing is wrong, thus anything I said was meaningless.

I basically agree. The first 5 tracks are pretty much in line with Character, although 1 and 3 aren't bad. On the last 5 they take some interesting risks with the strangely structured #6, the clean vocals on 7 and 8, and the decidedly unmelodic death main riff in track 10. I'd say track 9 (Nothing to No One) is the best standard DT song in many years.

Nothing To No One is the opener, not number 9. Focus Shift is 9. What version do you guys have?

This is the official order, from metal archives and their homepage as well:
1. Nothing To No One 04:10
2. The Lesser Faith 04:37
3. Terminus (Where Death Is Most Alive) 04:24
4. Blind At Heart 04:21
5. Icipher 04:39
6. Inside The Particle Storm 05:29
7. Empty Me 04:59
8. Misery´s Crown 04:14
9. Focus Shift 03:36
10. The Mundane And The Magic 05:17
11. A Closer End (Japan bonus track)
12. Winter Triangle (Australian bonus track)

I have that one, minus the bonus tracks.

You do realize that no one listens to your opinions on music, right? You're ridiculously out of your mind.

Speak for yourself, poopface.

:omfg:

Keep it in context. Replies like he just wrote are worthless, and you know it.

I just thought the first five songs were dull and same and made me turn it off to listen to the new Pelican, but then the next 5 actually varied from one another, which made them worth listening to.

Saying the first five songs sounded the same tells me you really weren't listening.

Why? He just said which songs he liked best, and you know what? Someone actually agreed! Not everyone has the same taste as you have, some people just like other songs better than you, we all know we can be surprised at what track a band picks for the single. Speaking of worthless replies, you're not too bad yourself, eh.

Hmmm, in the case, that 1 devided by a lot > noodles, then this equation actually solves in +infinitely small

Let me rephrase my equation:

+(a lot * (the emoness of noodles))^(misha's and jaden's combined vanity)

I feel you, since Haven, I don't know, they are still awesome and one of my favortie bands, but shit, after you put out albums like Skydancer, Gallery, Projector and Haven there just isn't that much left to wow me with. Damage Done left me pretty cold, Character was good and of course I will buy the new one because it is Dark Tranquility but still.....I think Insominium is out doing them these days easily with Above the Weeping World and Since it all came down, truely excellant Melodic Death Metal in the DT (older) vein.

Oh really? Fuck, then disregard my last post and make me stoked for it, I have been dying for them to go back to that for 3 albums now.

Oh ya, Of Chaos And Eternal Night is a great EP. I too have the non-remastered version; anyone have it? My copy is getting scratched, so if the remaster has a lot better production, I'd be willing to pick it up

Yeah, if anyone could answer this question several people would appreciate it.

Well, I don't have the original version of either, but I think the remastered combo sounds really good. Not the best production, but adequate. I would say it's about on par with The Gallery remaster.

I have the century media one together, is that remastered?

Man, I remember when getting a promo of the album made you part of this "exclusive club." Hahaha. I got the promo in the mail yesterday, and today it's all over the net. Pffft! Fags.

With that said, I think the album is outstanding. My tastes are very broad, as many of you know—I could listen to a death metal/Ani Difranco mix and totally dig it—so Dark Tranquillity hasn't released a bad album yet, in my eyes.

There are some songs with modern elements on Fiction, "Icipher" and "Terminus (Where Death Is Most Alive)," for the most part. Latter day In Flames—another band yet to let me down—is a good example to use when giving you an idea of some riffs in these songs. The haters will latch onto these instances and call the album a nu-metal album (the typical insult of mindless turds with little musical knowledge). However, the vocals are what sets these two bands apart. While Anders makes some of the newer In Flames material sound less heavy than it really is by singing in a less aggressive, oft whiney vocal style, Mikael stays brutal throughout these two songs.

I like the fact that they've changed things up again. They needed to stray from the Damage Done/Character style, else it would have gotten a bit monotonous. I am stoked for the clean vocals (male and female) being back, though only on two songs, "Misery's Crown" and "The Mundane And The Magic." I missed them. Stanne has an odd clean tone, but it's fucking captivating! Projector is one of the most underrated metal albums out there. This album is like The Gallery/The Mind's era meets the Projector/Haven era (musically) meets the Damage Done/Character era (sonically). It's brutal and fast, yet melodic and atmospheric, with a good dose of keyboards (piano style, not synth).

Let the inevitable haters hate; don't listen to them one bit, their words are worthless. Fiction is a killer album!

Man, now I am totally fucking excited. I agree, Projector is a top 10 all time album for me. I won't download this though and ruin it, when does it come out?
