i don't know about groovy death metal but for groovy black metal, you should try sigh - imaginary sonicscape
it is like black metal fused with 70's/80's disco music. gotta love it.

I'm pretty sure you're familiar with Carcass and Obituary. But also try Exhumed and Devourment, even though that is mostly slam.

Anata... I have such mixed feelings about them. I really really want to like them, but either they're to interested in musical olympics to right songs that stick in your head, or I just don't fucking get it.
