Kayla, you clearly haven't watched enough rom-coms. What's wrong with chasing someone if you really care about her? You can't rely on The God of Soulmates to push you together all the time...

It depends on what you mean by fight for her. If you come off to aggressive then no, don't. Just tell her you got the gay so you can be in the same room as her when her and her friends get naked and have pillow fights while video taping it. Maybe during this time she might fall on top of her other friends and they’ll accidentally kiss, just be careful not to pop a tent or the gig is up. After that, she'll realize that you have been such a great friend and eventually her and her ex will break up again. Then she'll wish you were straight. Then you tell her she made you un-gay, and the rest is history. Don’t listen to Zad’s crazy movie advice. Mine is much more realistic.

The hard part is doing something productive rather than just moping around.

Never watch romantic comedies, in fact. I prefer movies wherein people get disembowled in creative ways or things explode. The gay friend thing never works, though. If you become a girl's gay friend, that's it, you're stuck shoe shopping with her for the rest of your life.

Obviously, I'm not saying go crazy, but talking to her about how you feel rather than just going, 'oh...... ok' at least gets it out in the open. The ball's in her court. And don't start whining that it puts her under pressure, women were born with the choice of which male to pick.

I might be a tomboy, but I'm still female. Of course he should tell her how he feels, but he shouldn't try to actively sway her decision. If she doesn't make a decision based solely on her own wants and desires, and not bowing to any outside pressure, any relationship they develop won't have a solid base and won't last very long.

As for that last sentence...I could launch into the personal history of almost every female I know, all of which belie that statement, but I'll spare you.

All I'm saying is, if she has two good-looking men to pick and isn't more in love with one than the other, she has a decision to make. Why can't he argue his case?

Why don't you do what most guys do in this situation. Sulk, call her a fucking bitch, have a punch up with her boyfriend, sulk some more, write abusive letters on how much she broke your heart, sulk, stand outside her house at night, argue with her about what she did with her boyfriend last night, sulk, and then hope that all of this attention you are giving her will draw her straight back into your loving arms.

Eli, just ring her or see her and tell her exactly how you feel. Dont make any demands, or whine, or ask questions that she cant answer. And dont say anything mean to her. Then just see what she says/does
