For me it is Donnie Vie and not even close.
Great songs, songwriting, diversity, excessive passion, and the undeniable rock n roll voice :)

If we're talking bands, then it's Def Leppard. Hands down.

 That doens't suprise me.

Yeah I think my experience with Pink Floyd was kind of ill fated. I found my parent's copy of Dark Side of the Moon and thought it was pretty good, then I listened to the wall and it made me want to wretch. I sort of lost interest after that but then Les Claypool's cover of Animals made me want to hear them again, so I checked out the original Animals but I was used to hearing it sung by Les Claypool so I couldn't really enjoy it.

i.e. "Once again I prove that I'm a typical delusioned emo fag trying to find my place in a metal world, and I love to talk shit on bands I know dick about. I do know a lot about dick, though."

I think, if we're verging into decent Rock that no-one mentions, that Blue Cheer and Styx deserve a mention.

I had a vinyl and whisky night last night and I put on Queen's 'A Night At The Opera'. It's easy to become ignorant to any band after they achieve huge commercial success (especially in the case of Queen with Freddie's death and even Wayne's World!), you forget just how good a band Queen were.

I know I said Led Zep as the best and 'Stones just behind them, but Queen are definitely a close third.

Pink Floyd has got a lot nominations, but I never got into their music, neither Led Zeppelin. I am however a bit suprised that nobody so far has even mentioned Rush :o

Just for the record, I've never really listened much to Rush. I know I should though.

Not sure if I have said it before, but Queen gets my vote hands down.

I'd vote the Mars Volta for modern rock band. If I can pick one rock band only, of all time, it would have to be Soft Machine. It's the cream of the Canterbury scene, period. (Yes, I'm confident they're better than King Crimson)
