Which means if that band released a record that wasnt disappointing it would be the greatest metal album of all time

I was kinda surprised Virgin Steele didnt win the disappointment award as many didnt like it.

That came out late in the year and it was one of many that got caught in the backlog of releases. Had I heard it enough before our yearly picks went in, it definitely would've made my list as a disappointment of the year. I'll address it in the 2007 awards as an "honourable mention". Chris seemed really disappointed with this as well with his review. Virgin Steele was one of the bands that first brought me here to MR.com. I think it was Chris' review for the House Of Atreus Act II in fact.....

I'm more surprised that Mindcrime II wasn't on the dissapointment list at all.

If anyone was disappointed in that album they're retarded!

agree. OMCII is kickass.

I didn't mean it like that. I think the album is very good, but I was suggesting that if you had your hopes up for a great album you're retarded! Haha. I could see people being surprised it wasn't terrible, but disappointed? Why? What did you expect? Something like the first album?

ACtually, I did. I was firmly convinced (and still am) that Queensrÿche can do no wrong.

Your avatar sucks.

BAN!

Yeah, no shit Fridge. Can't you at least make it thinner? It's really annoying to have to scroll left to right to read posts on any page where that monstrosity appears.

They're fucking Norsecore posers who are approved of because they happen to be Norwegians. I stay the hell away from any of their albums, the only forced contact I ever made with them was their cover of Buried by Time and Dust on a Mayhem tribute. Processed vocals, floating bassdrums and allround bullshit. Apart from choosing the most boring song on DMDS, that is.

Exactly. It's a killer album.

So you're basically judging a band by a single song, one that isn't even theirs?

I'm a lot more dissapointed with Now Diabolical making the bm top and Klage, Blood Red Fog, Archgoat or Krieg not making it, than with Armada in the 5th.

Norsecore rules. I haven't heard Keep of Kalesin yet, but if it's blasty goodness I'm sure I'll like it.

Nah, I heard bits of Armada at a friend's place. The cover I described is the only Keep of Kalessin track I have to endure on a regular basis, seeing as how that tribute's getting a lot of spins here recently.

The track 'Armada' is fucking godly.

But it sucks... so very much.

I wasn't expecting something like Mindcrime I, even if they did say it was their heaviest album in blah blah and back to the roots blah blah blah. I was, however, expecting it not to be completely horrible. There are about four songs I can listen to on that album.

I don't know. There are a few I'd shitcan (especially "Speed Of Light"), but I think there are some really great tunes on this album. Not a masterpiece by any means; but a solid album, I think.

There are a few solid tunes to be sure (The Hands, The Chase, Re-Arrange You) but really, the overall effect is incredibly subpar. And One Foot in Hell is one of the worst songs ever.
