New album has leaked and so far it's a major disappointment. I expected this to be overly catchy and commercial because of Thunderstones' participation in Eurovision. Instead this is their most un-catchy album to date with a dire need for a good chorus. I mean, what's power metal without the catchy choruses that get stuck in your head. The Burning for example had plenty of those. To summarize - the new songs are their heaviest and least memorable. Has anyone else heard it ?

You can watch the video for the single Face In The Mirror here, but I can't see them winning with this song.

That's pretty catchy, IMO... So finland are competing with Thunderstone next? Have they made it their duty to destroy crass pop music with metal??? awesome!!

Agree, Face in the Mirror is a good song, don't know about the rest of the album. But unfortunately, Thunderstone will not be representing Finland in the Eurovision finals. They came out second in the final voting round, which already was quite an achievement.

So who's it gonna be? If it's HIM or Rasmus I'll shoot myself.

Nah, it was Hanna Pakarinen, the one who won our Idols competition a few years ago.

The lyrics are stupid and the song is just plain boring in my opinion. They tried to make it a bit "heavyish" with the guitars and drums thinking that after Lordi it would guarantee success. Well, let's see how it goes...

Yeah, like that's gonna win. They should just go with SA and kick everyone's arse.

Whoo, something like My Selene or The End of This Chapter could actually work. That would really be something.

I can see it before my eyes, the amazement of the crowd, the feeling...
"Across darkened skies, I travelled withoooout a light..." Man i love that song :D.

Yeah, but they're definitely not going to win with this entry. It's just generic pop music, will have no impact whatsoever. Switzerland should enter Celtic Frost, we totally lost last time with our little whimpy pop group.

Sure, though I'm 100% sure Celtic Frost would be too weird and harsh, so no success with that one. We discussed with my friends about how Pakarinen could win this year. The only solution was that if every other country sent their biggest black/death metalband.

Lordi was a bit different, but it was still just Hard Rock.

Well, you never know, people might be sufficiently wierded out to love it. Or we could send in Gotthard.

Well, Gotthard wouldn't be that bad, although they don't really stick out. That's never a good thing in a competition like the Eurovisions.

But Celtic Frost would stand out... Dammit, let's just use Eluveitie and get it over with.

Well, that sounds like a good balance between weird, heavy and special. Didn't they play like melodic metal with folk and death influences?

they play folk metal with death singing, but also chanting and female singing. Only problem is they might have too many band members. Along with the usual guitar, bass, drums, etc; they also have various flutes, bagpipes, a hurdy gurdy and a violin. Might just be too many people on stage.

lol, i come back to check on the thread and i find a discussion about eurovision. Guys feel free to open a new topic about it so you can discuss it freely.

As for Evolution 4.0... it started to grow on me a bit. Face In The Mirror and Great Man Down are kick ass songs. I still regard this as Thunderstones' weakest, not because the album is that bad but because the band have done things better in the past. So far i'd rate this around 65.

Ok, sorry about that.

I've been listening to this a bit and I agree partly. True, the catchyness is not as present as before, but it is still there on some level. I personally enjoy the darker and heavy path they've taken. There are some parts that I dislike, for example the beginning of 10000 Ways. The part after the guitar+drum start is just meaningless, there is no point in it. Otherwise the album is quite enjoyable. The beginning in Holding on to My Pain reminds me slightly of Diablo-Black Swan :). I'd give it a 81/100.
