"Pleasure Drone" is filler? Pffft!

Imo yes. It's nothing but a catchy chorus, just like Come Alive.

Works for me. :dio:

OK, I wont deny that it does work, to an extent, but some more qualities in a song would be preferable whether it's speed, riffage, complexity...well i don't know. Basically i think they could have made more of an effort in the songwriting department. To have one or two of these songs would be OK, like how they did with Perfect Gentleman, Hey Lord! etc. but on this album it was taken to excess.

See, it's all subjective, because "Perfect Gentlemen" and "Hey Lord!" are two of my favorite Helloween songs! "Hey Lord" is easily in the top 5; I absolutely love that tune.

I love those tunes aswell, but I don't think the correspondant songs on The Legacy (what, like four in total?) are comparable to those two, maybe Mrs. God (arguably) but the other ones are just so so. Too many of them simply.

"Better Than Raw" is very underrated.....but why not compare other ones like "Master of the Rings" and "Time of the Oath" to "Dark Ride"? "Legacy" tops all of these! :P

Well i guess i just wanted for Better Than Raw to be a bit in the spotlight, because as you said i think it's underrated. And I also compared these two because they are heavier than their other records.

I only have the three keeper albums so i was wondering which of these is worth getting, or any of the other infact?

The only Helloween album I don't have is Chameleon, and I recommend every one of the other nine.

As for the poll, I'd have to go for The Dark Ride. Better Than Raw is a very good, very interesting album, but I tend to lose some of the songs in the halls of my memory, although I know I don't dislike a single one of them. How amazing is the solo section in Midnight Sun?

You recommend Pink Bubbles Go Ape?

I think that album and Chameleon are good, but I recommend them with a huge neon disclaimer.

Well I don't strongly recommend it, and certainly not to everyone, but yeah for fans of melodic power metal/hard rock its a lost gem.

Also, just for the sake of saying it, the Deris era of Helloween is amazing, in no small part down to the man himself - great singer, great songwriter.

Hails Andi! :dio:

I agree with all of that. And I'll say this: Deris era KO1 Kiske/Hansen era. :omfg:

Very good songwriter indeed. Did you guys listen to his solo albums? I'm not into that sort of melodic rock usually, but his solo stuff is so good that it simply creeps into my playlist from time to time.

I have to go with the minority and vote for Better Than Raw. Granted, both are exceptional albums. And The Dark Ride actually has what's probably my favorite metal song of the millenium (the title track). But I find Better Than Raw to be looser and more energetic. Push, A Handful Of Pain, Falling Higher, Revelation, Midnight Sun. Every single one of the songs on that album is a gem. Every song on TDR is great too, don't get me wrong. But overall, in choosing between two of my favorite metal albums of the last decade, I have to choose BTR.
