Post subject: Threshold: New Song featuring Dan Swano
PostPosted: Mon Feb 12, 2007 9:21 pm
Weird. When they said Swano was growling on the new Threshold album I kind of took it in jest. It never sounded like a combo that would work. Swano is, however, growling! A new song, "Slipstream," featuring Swano, can be heard here: http://www.thresh.net. There's not a lot of growling, but it surprisingly fits.

Thoughts?

Awesome! although Dan sings like what three words maybe? still a really cool song, Andrew McDermott is a great vocalist but i liked Damian Wilson better, too bad his albums werent as good as the ones with Andrew.

I only own back to Hypothetical. I think Wilson left before that. His work on the Star One album is killer, though. His solo stuff is like Kiske's, though. Kind of lame.

Anyway, I think Dan sings like 4 lines on this song. Not much of a guest spot, really.

Yeah i mean Dan is so much more than just growls, the band could have used him a bit more, but whatever the song is great.

Damien only appears on their debut album Wounded Land and on Extinct Instinct not the best albums of the band but still good.

Listen to this song with Wilson on vocals from their Wounded Land debut:

Threshold - Paradox

Wow! Now I'm pumped to get this. I only own Subsurface, and it's one of my favorite prog CDs. They have such a unique take on a dreamy, otherworldly sound which really elevates them above others in their genre.

Damn there's still albums by them I need to buy, but they are a bit hard to find over here if you are looking for a cheap price.

Threshold is one of the better prog metal bands imo, up there with Ayreon, Zero Hour, Fates Warning, Symphony X...

How come I'm just hearing about this band now? This is some fucking awesome, catchy prog metal. Swano seems to be featured on another song or two as well. Everytime I've noticed it, its fit real well. I guess I've got some Threshold research to be doing now.

By the way, thanks for that, bro! I listened to it that night, but forgot to reply. It's a great tune. Wilson's voice is so good, at least what I've heard (Star One/Ayreon).

And Lukati, from what I have of Threshold, they're worth checking out. A very good band. Swano is limited on this new album, I haven't downloaded it yet, but according to some he's featured very little on the other song he's on, too.

I have been a Threshold fan for awhile, and I like the new album with Swano on it. I havent formed a complete opinion on it yet because i havent listened to it enough. I was hoping for a review on this site actually.

I actually was only chiming in to defend the Damien Wilson era Threshold. I happen to think Extinct/Instinct is their best. There are some kick-ass songs on that album.
