Not the best news in the world. Still, curious about the new one.

Btw, major lol at:

the material often underpinned by riffs as heavy as anything in the METALLICA repertoire

It's not bad news also imo...only roadrunners' famous special editions months after an album is released (Opeth for example  ) can be annoying.

I think is great that Roadrunner is sort of back with REAL metal (with Dragonforce and now Dream Theater).Remember that they used to have Annihilator and King Diamond among their rooster.

Don't forget Opeth and 3 Inches of Blood, they also had Sepultura untill Max left and Fear Factory

Roadrunner was just bought out by Warner Bros., I believe. They were bought out by a major label either way.

my friend's crazy about them, he's always playing some song on his phone. I hate the pbvious, constant rythm breaks. duh-duh-blank-duh-duh-blank-duh-duh-blank (drums start)-duh-duh-duh-blank-duh-duh-duh-blank etc...

I can see people having issues with anything from Obsolete on, but before that you should bow down! The first two albums and the EP are awesome!

Fear Factory are solid, but get dull pretty fast.

I don't see this affecting Dream Theater's music because, like Opeth or Porcupine Tree, they're popular enough doing there own thing that I don't think Roadrunner would really interfere.

Now I get it. Couple of weeks ago there was this competition on Obituary in a major newspaper and the prizes were CD's from Roadrunner (including Deicide, King Diamond etc, all banned bands in Malaysia). The competition was organised by Warner Malaysia in collaboration with Roadrunner. I was suprised at first. Now all is clear.

Isn't King Diamond still with Roadrunner?

I agree, noodles...at least I hope that will be the case. Looking forward to the new album. I'm hoping for something a little more technical than Octavarium, although at the same time I've been liking Octavarium a little more recently.

Octavarium was very good. Dream Theater will probably never be able to top Scenes From A Memory, but as long as they'll keep realeasing great albums I'm satisfied. I like all of the albums I've heard by them, which is everything except A Change Of Seasons and Falling Into Infinity.

As for Falling Into Infinity, I've heard it sucks, so I'll probably save that one for the last, and check out A Change Of Seasons first.

When it comes to the Roadrunner signing, I don't really have an opinion. I'm pretty sure it won't affect their music either way. :)

I'm not at all worried about this signing. Besides, Metal Blade is the new Roadrunner.

When the public abandons buying music, labels have to sign bands that will make them money. That's a simple fact. In 2007, do you think Metal Blade can make money off of bands like Flotsam & Jetsom and Metal Church? Of course not. So they sign metalcore bands, and bands that'll allow them to do business without folding like most small labels—and Metal Blade is a small label.

Personally I have no issues with Metal Blade, they still sign some great bands. And there was nothing wrong with Roadrunner until they started all the bullshit reissues.
