How is the Destruction? I have only heard Total Desaster, and it sounded awesome.

IMHO, the old classics now have a production that shows off the true power of the songs. I always thought the old albums sounded way too tinny. Now the riffs leap out of the speakers, and Marc Reign's excellent drumming clubs you over the head. They made the drums a little too high in the mix, but it's not that bad. A couple of the songs, like Reject Emotions, have slight changes in the structure, but it's not even that noticable. The two new songs are pretty much standard post-2000 Destruction, but they hold their own.

It really depends on what you're looking for. Of course since it's a re-record, it's nowhere near essential. But if you're one of the many who hated the production on the old albums, then go ahead and scoop it up.

Well I don't hate the production, but it definitely could be better. Im surely getting this cd, just to finish my Destruction disco.

It's not a huge surprise that Akercocke lists Sonic Youth as one of their biggest influences.

The Red Chord - Clients

...not so sure if that was a smart move at the moment.

Xasthur-Subliminal Genocide

Noticed that Daniel of this very site is thanked in the liner notes. His mother would be so proud

Ooh, hells yes. I WISH TO BE ALONE WITH MY GOD!!!!

It's an interesting album. Much less immediate than The Goat Of Mendes, but you can tell the quality's there.

Amen. I hope you have heard/will soon hear Deeds That Go Unspoken, I thought their first two albums showed real flashes of greatness but on this latest album it really came together.

And their drummer, David Gray, plays some of the most interesting patterns in metal.

Heh, they had another one before Goat... called Rape Of The Bastard Nazarene. Apparently, it's hard to find, I'll get around to it eventually. HEard a few tracks from Words..., love it.

And yes, he's a great drummer. Filled in for The Berzerker live.

Edit - recent purchase - Zaratustra - It Was A Night. Anyone heard of these guys?

Hey, what the fuck does the bonus cd include?, i remember seing this at some store but i couldnt found anywhere on the cd information about what was on the bonus cd.

Good album by the way, but expect nothing like the first one, this is more Power Metal oriented.

I had Kill To Survive on vinyl but i think it got lost when i moved about 8 years ago because i cant seem to find it

How do you find that one, Zad? Love or hate?

Two listens, and I can see why people don't like it. Still, I've liked every track I've heard from them, even the groovy stuff, and this is pretty good. Even Eyes Of The Insane, which MetalArchivers seem to think is the worst song ever, is pretty awesome. Slayer've always sounded pretty much the same after the early slightly crappy stuff to me, don't see what the fuss is about. More love than hate. 78*, minimum? You?

I know this question was not directed to me, but I like Christ Illusion. Flesh Storm is a great thrasher, and I also enjoy songs like Cult and a couple others.

I'm a Slayer fan from waaaaayyyyy back so I've had my trials and tribulations with their stuff. After Divine Intervention I kinda started switching off from their stuff and almost gave up metal when I heard Diabolus In Musica (not really, but I sure wanted to burn my Slayer!). But I stuck with them and despite 'GHUA' I actually quite enjoyed Christ Illusion.

For me it was the best thing they'd done since Seasons, although there were a few fillers on it (Consfearacy and Catatonic just sound Slayer by numbers to me). I'd say around 80 - 85% would be my score, so for me it was good, but not exceptional !

By the way, I've noticed you're on post 11,999. Crikey!

Divine Intervention is probably my third or second favorite Slayer album. The mix is quite poor, but the songs are still really aggressive, and I think Bostaph was a really good choice for the skin-beating on that album.
