Anyone here a fan? I used to like them alot back in the before time, before metal. And they are one of the few bands whom I still enjoy listening to every now and then 7 years later.

Greyest of Blue Skies was the album I came to know them on and loved it, still do, my favorite album by them. Was let down by their self titled in 2003, it had some solid tracks on it though (Good Times, Thousand Mile Wish, Panic Attack, Therapy) Overall though, it almost killed the band for me, other than GoBS I dont listen to anything by them.

Anyways, they have a new album coming out finally, the crapily named 'Them Vs You Vs Me". Their new single Paralyzer is very promising, I like it alot more than pretty much anything from their 2003 album.

So for anyone who cares you can listen to it:

I just traded Greyest of Blue Skies on lala.com (great album art on that one). Definitely a good CD, but I hardly ever listened to it. A good, solid alt-rock band, no doubt.

EDIT: Wow! That new song has a great groove; but it sounds a lot like a Chili Peppers kind of jam. It actually reminds a lot of another song, but I can't think of it right now.

Now that you mention it, it does remind me abit of the Chilis, dont know how I didnt catch that myself. It is great though, I was surprised when I heard it, Im glad to hear this band doin some good stuff again.

I haven't listened to them much on account of that "One Thing" song being one of the worst I've ever heard. If they're not all like that, maybe I'll give them a shot.

Nope, not all like that. I'll give you some links to some videos if you wanna check em out.

Drag You Down - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jChfUcWrwU8
(This was the song that got me into them back in 2000)

Good Times - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIWPEn-2igg
(First single of their 2003 self-titled album)

Absent Elements - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpDSL0BBd-Q
(Also from the 2003 album, this song is ok, not their best)

And just for the fun of it, this is the band before they were Finger Eleven, the Rainbow Butt Monkeys.. haha.

Circles - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmtUeDur6yg

They really changed more than just their name.

I like this band. My favorite album of theirs is definately Tip.
GOBS got me into them but with time I got fed up of that album but not "Tip" it only grew more on me.

"Awake And Dreaming",
"Quicksand",
"Costume for a gutterball" and
"Suffocate" are my favorite songs by them.

I also enjoy their S/T more than GOBS. With the exception of "One Thing" all the songs are pretty solid and they don't have the nu-metal vibe GOBS had. Absent elements, Obvious Heart and Other Light are some of the great tracks from the self titled.

Figured it out, I think! Is that riff in "Paralyzer" reminding me of the riff in "Take Me Out" from Franz Ferdinand?

I've only heard a few songs from the album Tip (some fan huh?) which is why I didnt comment on it. I like the band, just not enough to pay the price Ive seen the album for. I think I would pay 9.99 tops for it.

I also like GoBS more because I find it more laid back, songs like: Broken Words, Famous (My favorite FE song), Bones + Joints, etc.. Not to mention just catchier songs, thats just me though.

Just for that, I solemnly swear to never listen to this band. Ever.

I don't think that's right, though. Give it a listen, see if you can figure out what song it's reminding me of.

I think you're pretty much on with the Chili Pepper groove thing. I dont think I've even heard a full Franz song because I couldnt make it all the way through so I wouldnt know about that one.

For anyone who cares, the new album is out and its pretty damn good. I like it more than their 2003 effort. The grunge-ish sound they used to incorporate is becoming less and less noticable with each album. I find this one to be one of their more melodic and catchy albums. I would probably rate around 75-80/100.

My only problems I have with the album is the fact that the first single "Paralyzer" is the best song on the album. And the middle of the album is abit on the boring side, but the first 3 songs and the last 4 songs are really good, 7/11 good songs and 4 borderline filler (still decent) songs isnt so bad.

Well I heard most of this album and it's very boring I hate the ferdinandish song Paralyzer. what's up with all those discoish elements they incorporated. They're simply trying to jump on the same wagon Franz Ferdinand are on(and very late at that) and it displeases me to the extreme.

Tip will remain their best release and their self-titled their last good release. I have striked Finger Eleven of the list of artists I will follow unless they change to a better direction. Ugh! talk about a waste of talent!

5/10

I can definately see why someone would not like this album. I dont really pay attention to any bands considered popular anymore, other than the ones I used to listen to still releasing albums. So as for Finger Eleven jumping on some sort of bandwagon, I dunno. This album to me seems like somewhat an evolution and somewhat of a step back. I say a step back because of the use of synths and abit of a funkish groove sound (for lack of a better term) that they used when they were the Rainbow Butt Monkeys.

After 4 years I definately expected something abit more, but I find it to be simple, fun, catchy album. A step up from their self-titled for me. I really need to get Tip though if its as good as you say.

I was REALLY into them from grades 6 through 8.
I used to dance with Rick Jacket [guitarists]'s sister. Yes, boys. I was a dancer.
Tip is my favourite album.

Nice to see someone who agrees with me :P
It's by far my favorite and in my opinion it's also their best.
