I'm starting to get into Power Metal with female vocals, but so far only know of one or two bands. I know there are other bands out there doing similar stuff, but I can't think of any names. Help!

(edited to make some suspicious folks happy)

Good technique, Mr. Street Teamer. :dio:

Um, I'm not sure what that means. I'm not a spammer or an ad person, if that's what you mean. Sorry.

I have the Wizards' Hymn debut and you can find my review here:
http://www.angelfire.com/music5/metalcd ... EVIEW.html

As for (fairly) similar power metal bands (recommendations):
Fading Starlight (recommended)
Beautiful Sin (recommended)
Chapter Seven
Felony (highly recommended)
Oratory (highly recommended)
Magica
Mercury Rain
Kapel Maister (highly recommended)
Saeko
Seventh Gate
Headline
Syrens Call (highly recommended)
Forgotten Tales (highly recommended)
Heavenfalls
Seven Angels
Seventh Seal (recommended)

Some of these are better than others, and I tried to note the ones I hold higher than others.... but you can check the Metal CD Ratings site for their exact rating.

Also, if you want to wander more into the symphonic direction (a la Nightwish) there are tons of female fronted bands. Same with the somewhat similar gothic metal direction... I've got many bands in the symphonic/gothic metal style. :)

Now I have heard some Nightwish, and liked what I heard. Heavy on the orchestration, but good. Haven't heard of any of the other bands, but I will check them out. Thanks!

Seriously check out Edenbridge. They are power metal in the vein of Nightwish but have found their own sound, a more down to earth feel with some experimentation thrown into the mix aswell. They did try to ride with the Nightwish pop-wave but they certainly aren't no clone, they were around before that time.

Sunrise In Eden or The Grand Design are both nice albums to start with.

I haven't heard much either but Ebony Ark are really good, spanish power with some prog in the mix. They have only one album so far I think. The chick singing have some real talent.

I've heard a few songs from this band Benedictum. Sounds like something worth checking out.

I second Clints recommendation on Beautiful Sin.

The one that the chick who used to be married to Alexi from Children of Bodom... Radagast, help me!!!

Otherwise, as the man said, get into female-fronted generally.

Sinergy, is it?

There are truly a ton of great female fronted power metal bands (Ebony Ark, Triosphere and Edenbridge are all awesome!), but I tried to list the bands that were closest to Wizards' Hymn with my particular list....
Just so you know.

.... Forgotten Tales is probably the closest comparison to Wizards' Hymn, btw. :)

Yeah her voice is shitty. Music's good though, hopefully they'll finally do a new album and it'll be more Bodom than Bodom.

I think Kinberlys voice is great. To hell and back is one of my all time favorites. Every track is amazing, apart form laid to rest which is just a bag of shite. A very underated album imo and i recomend everyone to listen again! Just for the solo's if anything!

Get Dark Moor - The Hall of the Olden Dreams NOW! That's about as good as female-fronted PM gets. Edenbridge is also pretty good. They have some real monster songs, for example their title tracks are usually awesome. Especially on Arcana and Shine.
