Are you a music history buff, or have you just been around quite a while and always noted these things? You always seem to provide fascinating read on this stuff.

I quess i'm a bit of a music history and music trivia freak. I've been into metal for quite a long time considering my age (i'm 21 in a month), but i'm by no means a veteran.

That last post was goddamn long because i answered to so many peoples' posts. I'm surprised someone read through it all. But it's nice that someone gets something out of my endless essays on metal history, heh. I'm not trying to be some kind of metal guru or anything, but i seem to get drawn into these kinds of discussions often.

Your humility is both refreshing and yet it seems to be a rather common trait(at least as those I've met online) for people from your country. :D

Yeah I'm listening to Negura Bunget's new album and its pretty cool, it'll probably grow on me. Haven't heard any of the other bands Dago mentioned though.

You haven't heard any Enslaved? Jeff, for the love of the lord, go and download every thing they've done. Especially Mardraum, Monumension, Below The Lights, Isa and Ruun.

Below the Lights is the one you should hear anyway. It's much more technical than their latter two albums.

I was about to say that.....below the lights is a masterpiece.

Don't forget Mardraum as well.

Wow, did we derail this thread or what? My Antaeus cd's covers changed to sad pandas pictures.

Good follow up point, I've long since bought and listened to Blood Libels, and it's a real enjoyable album.

80-85/100

Yep... Ruun is the psychdelic win, though. I want to see moogs and sitars in the next one.

I'd have to agree with that, very well done.
I just wish they didn't take forever to release such short albums... not to mention that this one includes two songs we'd already heard before (the first track was the a-side of a 7" from 2004 and Gates To the Outside was their contribution to the Malicious Secrets split series).
Sucks to know they won't play live anymore, though; I never saw them and would've been very curious to witness their chaotic sound unleashed on stage.

Agreed, I was reading about their final tour, and they said they only had 3 or four venues who actually did their set justice. They have such an intense sound, whether it's the most black metal thing in the world doesn't matter, it's pure energy and very evil... Live would've been something else.
