I'm curious to know where to place Into Eternity....they have at least 4 different genres in their music

Lucky for you, metalNESS has set the precedent by putting it in the prog voting thread. Sounds as good as any to me.

With that said, in regards to the albums you have above with multiple genres, here's the voting threads they should go in:

Jon Oliva's Pain - Heavy/Power/True
Devin Townsend Band - Avant-Garde
Dezperadoz - Prog
Rage - Heavy/Power/True
Wuthering Heights - Prog

Also, avant-garde generally refers to albums experimental in nature. Whether or not that really applies to some of the albums being voted for, the fact that they don't fit well into other established genres makes them at least a bit experimental.

That helps alot and also means I have to go beyond my top-10 to list five in each genre I listen to. Good thing I have a top-20 list! Of course, some genres I won't have five (like avant garde), but I assume you can list just one or two if you've not got the full five to fill out.

Yep, you don't need to fill them all out. Just like in real voting! :D

Benediction is death metal, right? Transcend the Rubicon and all that?

Yes, Benedictum goes in the heavy/power/true category.

And Benediction is indeed a death metal band.

If my Nekrogoblikon CD comes before the new year it's going on my list as best of 2006, I can already tell.

I sent him a PM about it. I really hope he actually thinks the thread is for "all time greatest" votes. Nobody can be that dense.

I don't know, Wuthering Heights sounds more power to me than prog. Power with some folk and prog tendencies, but mostly power. Anyway, if you guys decide it's prog, then it's good for me, I might put it there, since it wouldn't make my top 5 heavy/power anyway.

I also see some people put Communic into prog, is that ok? They're more like power/prog to me too. I'd also ask if I can put in the prog top progressive black or death bands like Enslaved or Ikuinen Kaamos.

Yeah, it's a bit iffy, especially for Wuthering Heights, but go ahead and put both Communic and Wuthering Heights in prog.

Too many people have already put Enslaved in black, so it needs to go there. If no one else has voted for Ikuinen Kaamos anywhere else, go ahead and put it in prog.

Anyone know when metalreviews is gonna post the results from the polls for the top albums of 2006?

And when are they gonna post their own awards for the top albums of '06?
