I finally got it, and after one listen, I think this album is being severely underrated - not so much by critics, who mostly seem to be giving it solid praise - but by the fans. I can see why, since most of the speed has been taken back another notch, and thare are alot of clean intros, even more than on BNW, but I was amazed with the depth most of these songs have. If you take away Wildest Dreams 2 (as I call Different World) and The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg (too repetitive), I think it's a great album. The songs all seem to really mean something. Sure, I just want my Iron Maiden to just go out and :dio: , but I have plenty of albums where they do that better than the old guys could probably pull it off now, so it's nice to have a serious change in direction for at least one album. The song lengths don't bother me either because I think most of the longer songs just had that much to say, especially For the Greater Good of God.

Anyway, I give it an 8/10 because of the two duds - should have been an 8-song album, and it still would have been over an hour anyway :P

after a few more spins I still like it.

If I rate it in the Maiden discography that'd be a 6,5

If I rate it as an individual album that's be a 8/10

IRON MAIDEN are still the best HM band around! :dio:

lol. A solid 9 would be out of 15, so I'll assume that's what you meant.

Anyway, great album. And welcomes aboard to this strange new Frenchman.

It kind of fell off of my radar after a while. I listened to it for a good week, but it hasn't called me back. Still a solid album, but I don't think it's going to get the mileage that Dance of Death still gets in my playlist.

I liked DoD more aswell, but i still think AMoLaD is one of the best albums to come out i years. I guess i think that Maiden has reached a great standard in the late years.

Thanks for the welcome. I see your from Glasgow. My wife is from just south of there, a little town called Ayr. I spent the Holidays in Scotland and enjoyed it quite a bit. Might be the last time I'll be in Scotland for a while since her parents are planning on retiring and moving to Spain.

Anyway on the red eye to Gatwick I was playing A Matter Of Life and Death and it struck me how solid this album was. When I first got it I played it once and set it aside. I threw it on my Nano at the last second before I left to give it another shot and I am glad I did. Heven't stop playing it since.

65/100 is the right score for the new Maiden.

Ha ha, I actually meant Stefan (the guy with 3659 posts  ) but yes, hello and welcome aboard to you too! Are you French as well? Cause that would be an odd coincidence.

I've got a couple of buddies from uni that are from Ayrshire.
