I was wondering what you guys thought of this album, as I was thinking of getting it and there is no review on the site. I personally think what I've heard off it it the best stuff Fenriz and co. have done in ages. You've got to love Graveyard Slut

I loved every minute of it. I think they have mastered the Black N Roll formula quite nicely, and Graveyard Slut does indeed rule.

Whisky funeral! fuck off!

A lot of Norwegian BM bands have jumped on the punky black n roll bandwagon lately, and Darkthrone are IMO the only band who have really pulled it off.

One of my fave albums for 2006.

Volcano was damn good, but that now Diablolicol sucks.

You should prob check out some Impaled Nazerene if you like the whole Black and Roll thing.

It's enjoyable yes but it became repetitive for me after some time.

The Cult is fucking alive man! Really good album, as many say, the did what satyricon could never do, the album is at the same time raw and sick and at the same time it feels fresh and rockin.
In other words, it "reeks of freshness"

I think that freshness makes it great, as it's a welcome change from the same stuff the 'Throne have been doing for 15 years

Yeah they are more like The Exploited meets black metal at least in their last albums.

Well I got this yesterday and I think it's better than Under A Funeral Moon but not as good as A Blaze In The Northern Sky.

Oh yea, some may think this album is ridiculous with a stupid video "Too Old Too Cold", but I love it very much. The sound of The Cult Is Alive is much better and unique than those all those albums after Panzerfaust.

Check Sportlov for that, very funny band. They're about cold, war and wintersport.

Doesn't Sportlovs funniness pretty much get lost if you don't know Swedish? Sure, the music is quite hilarious too, but I think the highlight is the insane lyrics. :D

It's a tiny bit understandable...

yeah, i remember one time Mies translated some danish almost perfectly without my help :D he's either good.. or lucky with his guesses

Quote:
vi skall återerövra spåren
ingen mjölksyra i låren
likt fenrisulven har vi brutit våra band
de har stulit ett guld för mycket
vi skall slita dem i stycken
solen skall aldrig mer stiga över Karl Johan

awsome lyrics about unholy skiing, ha ha :D :dio: i'm not that good at swedish.. however, the second line about having no lactic acid in the thighs is quite funny, cuz is so stupid and geeky at the same time :D .. also, the last line is quite funny too, cuz it's so cheesy written. The only reason why the sun never will shine upon "Karl Johan" ever again is "Johan" rhymes with "band" - the name/person is solely used for the rhyming purpose in that particular verse and is not further mentioned in the song after that. A very childish form of poetry  me like it.

Not to mention their album called Snöbollskrieg, every retard can figure out what that means :D

Fader... Satan... Guida mig genom slalomporten
Till... Seger... I den sanna vintersporten
This too! Classic!!

The choruses to that song are also some of the highlights of that album

Quote:
chorus 1
att bränna holmenkollen
skära svansen av trollen
fördriva dem från gårdarna
och utrota torsken i fjordarna

chorus 2
att skända lillehammer
tills skiten står i flammor
och innan vi har farit
skär vi halsen av bente skari

Sheer genius  Pity I can't say the same about the music.
