I plan on buying this album probably in about a week and a half (after finals are over) since I love the songs Fly and Another Stranger Me. What does everybody else think of this album?

This album sucked. Otherland is a great song, but apart from that there is not an inspired track on the album.

Hit. A few of the tracks are a little bland, but its still Guardian and Guardian still rock. They managed to strip down all the layers from the previous album without making it seem like a total climb-down on their part. One of the best of 2006, no doubt.

Big miss they fooled me into buying it because I dug Another Stranger Me, the rest is convoluted PM wankery.

Hit. I loved it, it did take awhile to grow though. The first 6 songs on the album are clearly the best and the rest while still good just doesn't match up. I also dont like how the album ends, The New Order is the worst song on the album IMO and I felt was a horrid choice for an album ender. Those are my only complaints though, I've been listening to it almost non-stop this past month or so and so far I think it will be in the top 3 of 10 at the end of the year.

Its amazing how much this one has divided opinion - I mean we all knew Holy_Terror and the like were going to hate it before it was even released, but the division its caused among fans of the style is an odd one. Sort of like the new Maiden album, I guess.

I agree, there isn't a majority feeling regarding its quality.
Honestly, the last time I listened to it I couldn't wait to get it out of my player and get the next CD in. I'm just not liking it at all....

I love it. I never really listened to BG before but this record made we want to go back and hear the back catalogue. And it rocks.

But this record is awesome anyway, Turn The Page is amazing.

Hit. Not the best BG by far (for me, imaginations is their peak) but it's a solid piece of good music. And a good change after the boring and overproduced A Night At The Opera.

Hit. It is kind of a let down from ANATO, but it still is a great album. Like Rad said though, there are a few boring tracks, but some are damn awesome.

Hit. A few boring, bland moments, but overall a great release. Its no Imaginations from the Other Side or Nightfall in Middle Earth, but thats no reason for me to call it a miss, cause those two albums in my opinion are unbeatable.

At first I would've said miss, but the more I listen to it the more I find myself enjoying it. I almost found 3/4's of it forgettable after the first few listens, but now almost every song has me singing along.

:dio:

I can see the divide though, it's definitely not the BG of old. Even watching them live, you can see the differences in the material...

Still, I'm glad their evolving their sound!

For me it's definately a hit. I miss that heavier BG, but this album is a very mature and professional release, and it proves that BG is one of the best bands out there. So both A Night at the Opera and the DVD may have let me down, but this one certainly made up for past mistakes.

Miss

Just didnt do anything for me. Nothing really stood out and its a step backwards from their previous two releases.

Not a terrible album, just disappointing

Yeah. Hansi's singing was bad, the way he always held back at the great parts of the songs was annoying to say the least. And then there was the soundproblems it had, as if it was badly recorded/mixed or something. The sound would diminish all of a sudden at times, and not just bearly noticable either. With Headphones it sounds ridiculous to listen to.

I didn't hear it that way at all, but to each his own. I think it's the best live DVD any band has ever released myself :P

Far from hit, but not a terrible miss either. I mean it's not a bad album, it's just bland when compared with the likes of IFTOS, NIME, TFTTW etc. I expect much more from them. Maybe next time.
