I thought that Rising of Atlantis album from Atrocity was damn good, so is their early Death Metal shit. Calling the Rain though is Bizarre as is the Werk 80 album.....

Leaves Eyes is Folk Metal. They use traditional folk chords and riffs, so how the hell you could say they are Nu Metal is beyond me. I mean if you think they are shit, that's one thing, but you don't know jack shit about music if you think they are Nu Metal.

Thank you, Ken should thank us as well for not having to write a 90 page disertation about what is and isn't Nu Metal.....lol

Maybe it was the way they sounded that night, but I'm not the only that was saying it. Maybe it was the sound, but the heavier sections of their music sounded generic, the guitars were nearly impossible to hear over the bass and the drums, almost no leads. And the male vocalist definitley reminded me of nu-metal. Okay maybe nu-metal isnt the proper word, but I personally thought its close enough.

Bottomline, there wasnt anything that they did that stood out for me as worth hearing (let alone seeing) ever again.

Oh and another thing (just thought of this after posting last message) : since we're arguing whether they're nu-metal or folk metal, last nite they seemed to think they were Viking metal or something.

Ya, Leaves Eyes did not seem like folk metal at all (their live show being my only exposure to them). They were complete shit; agree with Natas. I really don't know what they're like on album, but it was probably the most emasculating metal experience ever. A good deal of more than half their show contained only synths and no guitars; it took till the last song before some aggression was actually put into it. Both singers are good at what they do, but really, for the amount that the growling guy actually sang (maybe 4 out of nine songs, with him only growling for about a minute in each song) there's pretty much no use for him there. I came very close to falling asleep during their set; watch out, Opeth, you've got competition.

All this talk is making me want to show up late and skip Leaves Eyes when I go to the show next week. The problem is that parking is a premium at the venue they're playing here, so I guess I have to suck it up.

Ya, plus based on the number of people who showed up early... If you show up an hour late, you're not getting anywhere near the stage. I was an hour early and by the time I got in the place was nearly filled and I had to do some strategising to get near to the stage.

Here is the setlist (though there are two or three songs that aren't on this list that are part of the setlist).

Wrath of War/Into the Storm
Born in a Mourning Hall
Nightfall
The Script For My Requim
Bright Eyes
Valhalla
Fly
When Time Stands Still(At the Iron Hill)
Another Stranger Me
And The Story Ends
Welcome to Dying
Lord of the Rings
And Then There Was Silence

Encore:
Imaginations From the Other Side
The Bard's Song
Mirror Mirror

Its going to be an incredible show, I take it from your Novemeber 29th date that you're going to the Montreal show too?

Looks like a pretty good mix and should make for an exciting show (seeing them on the 30th in NYC). Any idea what those other three songs were? I would assume Majesty (so that Battalions of Fear gets some representation) and probably at least one more from A Twist in the Myth.

I still wish they'd drop When Time Stands Still and replace it with The Curse of Feanor or Noldor (Dead Winter Reigns)

They don't play Majesty, I can tell you that. Amazing show though -- I posted about it a while ago.

Just came back from the Philly show and it was fucking amazing. The sound was great and the crowd was getting really into it for every song.

There were only a few minor things I didn't like (Replacing This Will Never End with Another Stranger Me, Majesty would have been great to hear live and the crowd was off beat with the clapping multiple times), but other wise it was one of the greatest concerts I've been to.

GUARDIAN GUARDIAN GUARDIAN!!!! :dio: :dio:

Ya, the setlist changes a bit every show (the one in Montreal wasn't like the one I posted either).

And its kind of annoying. Apparently, they've played Majesty a few times due to crowd requests throughout the tour, but throughout the latter half of the Montreal show everyone was shouting Majesty and they still didn't play it. Still was a pretty perfect concert; maybe next time they should just seriously consider putting Majesty on the setlist.

Quite honestly, if their gonna do something from Battalions of Fear live right now, I'd rather hear Run for the Night. I love Majesty and all, but I've got it on the live cd and the dvd. Was real glad they played Mordred's Song for the NYC show. While I wish that Another Stranger Me did replace This Will Never End on the list, I thought the live version of This WIll NEver end was better than the cd version.

Great show. Hope they dont take as long next time to get back here. And please, please play the Curse of Feanor (wishful thinking).

I just had to pop in and mention that I saw them last night. It was the best show I've ever been too (despite ho hum Leaves Eyes opening), and for some reason Hansi was really on point :D He sounded better last night than he did on the live album or the DVD for some reason. In fact, it was a near flawless performance!

This was the set, so they've obviously been changing it up a little from time to time:

Wrath of War/Into the Storm
Born in a Mourning Hall
Nightfall
The Script for my Requiem
Fly
Bright Eyes
Valhalla
A Past and Future Secret
Time Stands Still (At the Iron Hill)
This Will Never End
Welcome to Dying
And Then There Was Silence

Encore:
Imaginations From the Other Side
The Bard's Song
Mirror Mirror
