Chaos A.D. seems to have some of the most interesting opinions of any metal album on the market. Critics often hail it a masterpiece and one of the greatest metal albums of all time. Fans, on the other hand, seem to have mixed opinions of it. So what's the overall opinion here?

As for me? Hit all the way! I don't care if it's more "tr00" and "kvlt" to think Arise or Beneath The Remains are Sep's best. THIS is where Sep's songwriting and heaviness were at their best. Plus, this along with Vulgar Display Of Power are often credited as the two albums that kept heavy metal from totally dying out in the mainstream US. That alone should be worth something.

Hit. Though I prefer their earlier stuff, it's a damn good listen.

A couple of cool songs in there, but as an album it's a miss.

i think i voted "hit" by mistake :|

anyways, i think this is a mediocre album. save for R/R, Biotech, Polícia (a cover) and Territory there aren't any songs worth listening to.

I can't decide. Much of the album is pretty weak, but it does have "Territory" on it.

Havn't listened in a long whil, but from what I remember it's a hit. But I would much rather listen to Arise or BTR anyday.

Hit.

Their last good effort. But while I give Arise a score in the 90s, Chaos AD is later 70's, lower 80's max.

I'd say hit, though onyl because it has Refuse/Resist, Territory and a few other other good songs. Though there were a few bombs here and there.

It's weird because when this album came out I thought it was great record, a real sign of Metal progression and the Seps were contenders for kings of Metal and all that.

Hearing it again, I think there's still some cracking tunes on there, but production has been unkind so it sounds a bit dated and there's simply been better metal released since it.

In other words 51% Hit

To me it´s definitely a hit, really good songs, the whole album is just so fuckin simple-but-very-powerfull metal, Cavalera brothers always shined when they were a happy family.

P.S. Nobody has mentioned Slave new world, I think it´s one of the best Sep songs because of its incredibly simple but cathcy structure/riffs, I used to play that song with my band on every show, a real crowd-winner

I can't vote, cause it's not really a hit not really a miss, for me. It's a good album, but weaker than their past ones. But the worst come before it.
