Who gives a f**k? Some of my Cannibal Corpse CDs don't have PA stickers.

Well putting a sticker on a Cannibal Corpse cd is kind of ironic i guess... :D

i've seen cd's with those Parental Advisory labels on them and black metal cd's without in the same store. So it's probably something crappy rap- and crappy "metalbands" use to sell more cd's because that makes them cool. And u want to be cool, right?

... else it just a matter of being mainstream or not, and i partly agree with both Noodlehead and Seinfield. So i think there's a truth in the "Wal-mart theory", Wal-mart as in mainstream stores as such.

One thing is for sure... if it sais Parental Advisory on the cd's, then i'm not going to buy it!

Then you'll be sooo uncool man! lol

indeed ... cuz as i said, there's a high probability that i don't like the music, and i don't need those Parantal Advisory stickers to look cool, cuz nobody i know are interested in my music. Besides, i don't buy cd's, i buy LP's :D

How much do LP's cost there?

I think the whole issue of mainstream vs. underground music also has a lot to do with it. Often, the more mainstream albums are the ones that will get Parental Advisory stickers since the people who slap those on figure those are the albums all the kids/teenagers will be buying. And, of course, twelve/thirteen year olds will see these albums with their "Parental Advisories" and rebelliously be like, "Awesome!!! I must buy this!!!"

For example, there are quite a few black metal bands not getting Parental Advisory stickers. But Marilyn Manson is getting them. Despite the fact that these BM bands have far more offensive lyrics.

Agreed with this point. In the UK, it does seem that the more mainstream or mainstream intended the artist the more likely Parental Advisory sticker will be used. If you compare say an album which has the PA tag on it like KORN - Untouchables against Anal Cunt albums that don't get jack, the way the PA rating is handed out is inconsistent and ridiculous! (Besides, you really don't need a PA tag on an Anal Cunt record to realise that it may offend young kids!)

It is, simply put, all about marketing and enticing mainly young teenage kids to do this 'rebellious thing' and buy something that parents may not approve. For example, when I was a young teenager, Guns N Roses were 'publicly recognised' as the most 'dangerous band in the world' and look how many sales they had because of it. I bought 'Appetite' on it's notoriety rather than musical content; therefore because it said 'f*ck' loads of times I played it loud to piss people off. It was when I developed musically, bought 'Reign in Blood' and learnt the words to 'Angel of Death', did I realise how tame GNR were.

It's the same for every generation of young Metalheads as their taste grows (or opposed that the phase passes and they return to popville!). Therefore I think that Parental tags aren't a bad thing as on a minor scale they may help introduce kids to metal and keep the music alive. However the downside is that the bands that normally have them are perhaps more concerned about sales over artist integrity (especially if they have censored versions out there)!

hmm... same as cd's, i think... i ussually buy from no-colours-records from germany, and there LP's cost 11-13 € for 12'' and 15 € if it's something speciel, and 4-6€ for 7''. So it's roughfly the same, even though some ppl claim LP's are cheaper. They're only cheaper weight-wise.

And much cheaper than the UK!!!

A CD/LP normally cost £15 ($29 or 22 Euros) if it's not a chart or supermarket offer.
If it's a chart jobbie, it costs £10 ($19 or 15 Euros)
Most expensive CD I've ever bought from a shop is Canniball Corpse - The Wretched Spawn (special ed) for £22 ($41 or 31Euros)!

It really sucks ass in a big way. I suppose the Euro is being used to bring everyone into line and that's why the UK is reluctant to change the pound. If we went Euro, the UK government, large corporate bodies and even the media know that business would have to lower prices and taxes would have to be restructured to meet EU law. Sure, our economy would struggle at first, but the people would benefit later with having more money in their pocket, providing industry decides to look after our own and
stop sending work out to India to save cash and fuel their greed.

Shit, did I just go political? I hate it when that happens...
