I am considering buying the first 4 Crystal Eyes albums - they are selling 'em for 6 jewros each including shipping on their website. They're not a bad band, and I feel bad for having yoinked two albums and not paid them a penny to keep up the good work.

That's like £4/$7 a CD - probably doesn't seem to special to the US posters, but its a shit hot deal 'round these parts.

Aaaaand purchased.

Crystal Eyes are a bunch of cheap bastardos! At the my old review site thos cheap pricks sent me a CDR with the band/album title scribbled on it with a sharpie, and a shitty photocopied cover to review! Not that I'm against something like that, a ton of younger bands send CDRs, but they at least send something semi-professional!

Anyway, I never reviewed it and barely remember it. The stuff their new album sounds awesome, though. :dio:

I used to have that CD, it wasnt that bad. Do you listen to the rapper Cage? He used to rap in the horrorcore vein but was a class above the rest (in my opinion).

No. I'm not a big rap fan. I once loved ICP, but they've gone downhill ever since they stopped working with Mike E. Clark. The beats are crap, and you can have the best rapper in the world, but rapping over shitty beats won't help. I bought that album used and pretty much knew it was going to suck, which is why it's taken me this long to buy it. I liked the intro and "The Walls," but even that song has Violent J rapping "staring into the walls of my epitome." Haha.

ICP are the dumbest geniuses in music, I swear.

Yeah the Into is the only track I played more then once lol. I dont know how they got so famous, its like they figured out how to write lyrics so bad that they sell. When I was in highschool, some guy couldnt shut up about them so I bought that Black Rain CD thinking is was gonna kick ass. It wasnt good at all, but I have heard worse. Cage isnt associated with ICP in anyway, he actually is really similar to Eminem (some think he is better then Eminem).

Amon Amarth- With oden on our side
Hammerfall- Threshold (mild dissapointment)
Rhapsody- Triumph or Agony (Heavy dissapointment)
Tyr- Eric the Red

Falconer- Northwind
Manowar - The sons of Odin (DVD/cd)
Into Eternity- Scattering of ashes
Axel Rudi Pell- Mystica
Primal Fear- Metal is Forever
Innerwish- Inner strength
Manticora- The Black Circus part 1
Eidolon- Parralell Underworld
Blind Guardian- A twist in the Myth

They got popular because they were once a brilliant group, albeit in a stupid way. Their longtime producer, and essentially third member, quit working with them around 2000, I think. Then they went downhill. They haven't been the same since. Mike E. Clark is the only producer that works well with ICP because he's not a "beat maker," he's a musician. Anyone can make a beat. That's easy. But out of all the producers ICP have used since, including themselves, none of them have been able to consistently write good songs, or good instrumentals.

A producer in rap is basically the person recording everything and also writing the music/beats. It's not easy to make something good. But anyway, this isn't the thread/forum to be discussing ICP. If you're interested, though, just try anything by them that didn't come out after the Bizzar/Bizaar albums.

That's quite a haul! You buy used? I really, really like Tyr! I love their melodies and harmonizing, so damn catchy!

Found this for $3.99 tonight. It's a limited edition shaped disc. It's like my very own Crimson Glory chinese star with a remake, two demos, and two live tracks!

Crimson Glory - War Of The Worlds (EP) :dio:

I just bought Awake by DT last week. I must say, it was certainly a surprise. It's darker and heavier than Awake (which even went so far as to contain an early-90s dance number in Take The Time, not a complaint btw). But what really surprised me was James LeBrie. His vocals were totally different on this record than on any other DT record (while he was the vocalist). They were gruffer and more Classic Rock influenced than on any other DT record.

Picked these up today:

Olypmos Mons - Conquistador
Jon Oliva's Pain - Maniacal Renderings

The Olympos Mons album disappointed me. I'm at work so I give that initial opinion little thought since I can't really crank anything here; but I definitely didn't think it was amazing.

The Jon Oliva's Pain CD pisses me off! The booklet lists the tin case edition bonus track, "Only You," and the digipack bonus track, "Reality's Fool," and even has the lyrics. The back insert doesn't show the songs, but I was hoping for two hidden tracks. Sadly, there are no hidden tracks! What the fuck did they put the lyrics in the booklet for? So they didn't have to print up separate booklets for each edition? That's pretty frickin' lame, and it annoyed the shit out of me.
