I have never heard any complaints about Lars until the Napster issue. Now it's cool to hate him.

What the hell, he's not a very good drummer. That has nothing to do with whatever kind of person he is. He's just not a very good drummer. As far as the most techincally proficent drumming ever heard on a Metal album, you must have blocked Gene Hoglan's excellent work with Dark Angel and Strapping Young Lad out of your mind, and you've obviuosly never heard Matte Modine or King Fowley.

I have Deceasced albums and dig them a lot but why is Foley's drumming so great? I don't know, I don't have an ear for musical greatness anyways so things like that are lost on me. Lars was good enough for what he was doing when Metallica mattered.

He does that shit while singing, and doing both extremely well.

Metallica's dums have never been well produced, and Justice has the second worst example of it. Too damn clicky!

Clicky? No offense, I know a lot of people like to hate on Lars, but his drumming on Justice is some of the best, most technically sound drumming you'll ever hear on a metal album.

Erm...wha? I was talking about the sound, not the actual drumming itself. The bass drums sound clicky, that's a fact.

As for the drumming itself - yeah, Justice is his best perfomance. He's still never been better than average though.

Anyways, this is a MEGADETH thread, so let's take it back to the superior band.

I always thought Jimmy DeGrasso was an underrated player and a worthy replacement to Nick Menza. His work on the Rude Awakening album was stellar. Is he doing anything these days?

Apparently not.

I agree he was a good player. DeGrasso/Pitrelli/Mustaine is actually a pretty damn mouthwatering prospect, shame they came out with such an average album.
