Went to the Monsters of Mayhem tour last night.

Line-up:
Despised Icon
Some shit
Some more shit
NAPALM DEATH
EXODUS
Black Dhalia Murder
Hatebreed

DI played at 6:00, and I got off work at 5:00. Needless to say, they played in front of practically no-one, and I missed the entire set. 6:00 is not a good time to start a show. I've heard good things about them, but I still haven't heard them.

To follow up DI, two Hatebreed clones played, they sucked, and I'm not wasting brain space on remembering their fucking gay names. They sucked, that is all.

Napalm played a short set, but still got about 15 songs in. Started with Scum, and ended with Nazi Punks. Fucking fantastic, the pit was going, and the hardcore kids where getting bounced out, which made me smile. If you've never seen Napalm live, find a way to do so. the energy they have on stage is incredible, and you can't help but get swept up in it. I'm not a huge fan, but I appreciate their live show, and see them anytime they come to town.

EXODUS-Fuck yes!!!!!!!!!!!!! They blew the crowd away. They opened with fucking Bonded by Blood! Paul Bostaph was a thundering beast, Lee Altus sounded great, naturally, and fits in well. Rob Dukes has an awesome stage presense and sounded a lot like Bailoff during BBB. Dude is a great frontman. I was thrashin like it was 85. Also, the songs off of Shovel Headed soundes great live, and anyone who says that shit is Groove Metal, needs to get their fucking ears checked. If they come to your town, see it, or Exodus will have to rape and murder your wife!!!!!!!

Black Dhalia-good live band, not something I would buy, but hey. The problem was that Napalm Death and Exodus exhausted the crowd. Everyone just stood there like corpses, but I think the band understood. Whoever set the line-up for this thing is a retard. They played a tight set though.

Hatebreed-yeah right. Like I was going to waste an hour of my life on that? Please, I went home and got stoned.

An awesome show, and with ND and Exodus, you will get an exciting show if this comes somewhere near you.

Best show I've seen to date, happened last night, DESTROYER 666, CIANIDE, and SAURON... Holy shit, nuff said, but for the sake of the curious, I'll go on.

Sauron opened, and only the people with penises were having a good time. Can't knock the posers though, they were getting trashed. Doomy said funny stuff about Detroit being a legit city (LOLOLOLOL), and seemed to be finishing another beer every time I looked up from my head banging. They were dead on as far live vs studio comparisons go. Only the solos were botched. Still, H_T's bro played admirably considering he was being shoulder rushed by his own bandmate during all the "hard parts" so to speak. OF COURSE THEY PLAYED EVERYTHING, they only have 1 ablum and a demo. Quality all around. I keep seeing those Detroit maniacs at these shows.

Cianide was next. Before I go further, I rank the 3 bands in terms of favoritism like this: 1) Destroyer, 2) Sauron, 3) Cianide. Also, ALL 3 bands performed FLAWLESS sets. But, the BEST set of the night was ALL Cianide's. I love these guys, but seeing them live has immortalized them for me. They even played a song or 2 I wasn't familiar with, but still I was driven by their sound. Just like Crucified Mortals, they are that much better live. Divide and Conquer was the song of the night. For me at least.

Destroyer 666 fucking SLAUGHTERED the US crowd and my doubts in Satan with music, and an all around effect, that was everything I'd ever hoped they pull off... and then some. Cianide was still the best set of the night, but Destroyer was still fucking unbelievable. They even did American (Australian) and Anti-Christ, to play to us stupid Americans. And it worked! Covered Bathory, and Genesis of Genocide made me blow my load so hard, I won't be taking those pants off for a week. I loved being up close, writhing amongst the rest of the 666lings, but for the 2nd half of the set, I had to recede back, and just take it all in. Shows, you gotta see from all angles. Plus, my leather jacket was SATURATED from the inside.

The Double Door is an awesome venue. Great setting, and awesome sound quality. Employees do their thing, but aren't dicks.

One final perk, we met Gene of Dark Angel/SYL fame. It was an honor, he even tolerated John's starstruck ass. Hahah.

No what I am saying is that Municipal Waste is going to be there to, opening.

And about the Kreator, any other dates? Possibly in North America?

Reverend Bizarre. My friend got himself in jail for the night for fighting the doorman. I just got into a fight with my girlfriend. Other than that, the gig was good.

I saw GWAR a few nights ago, and as usual they were amazing. Municipal Waste and Red Chord opened for them.

Municipal Waste were actually a really good old-school thrash band (This next song is about a shark... a KILLER SHARK") plus the lead singer used a boogie board to crowd surf, which was awesome.

The Red Chord were decent, but it was pretty chest-thumping metalcore, and not what I wanted to hear that night.

GWAR had a pretty crazy set, and even more blood than the last few times I've seen them. They played a bunch of stuff off From Hell, and they actually played "sadamagogo", which I didn't think I'd ever get to see live.

To anyone who saw them in Hartford, CT at the Webster Theater- did your car get towed also? I met about six other people there whose cars got towed because the fuckers who ran the overflow parking lot didn't show up to hand out parking permits.

SRSLY?

I saw them doing an abridged version of it at Sweden Rock and I was bored to tears by the end of it. the songs in the firt half were obviously awesomes (and part 2 is oooook) but seeing the four musicians standing stock-still onstage while Geoff and a sagging Pamela Moore mince around in circles beating up dummies and playing with toy guns is not my idea of a good show.

hmm the last ones I visited were Ancient Rites, Heidevolk, Elexorien and Myrkvar and the day after that Eluveitie, Odroedir and Conorach. After that I wanted to go to Korpiklaani but they were already sold out

up next: Arnhem Metal Meeting with Arch Enemy, Skyforger, Moonsorrow, Aeternus and many more :dio:

Got very, VERY drunk and saw Hateform, Spirit Disease, Must Missa and Urn last night. Every part of my body hurts like hell.

Hateform - Meh. Good playing, though.

Spirit Disease - Okay-ish deathrash.

Must Missa - Killer oldschoolish black/thrash from Estonia. Good show, lots of leather, spikes and headbanging. Usually they have dancing girls on stage too, but not this time.

Urn - Urn were awesome. I would've liked to hear some more of their old material, but i can't think of anything else to complain about. Anyone into real black metal should check this band out. Ex-Barathrum members playing thrashy black metal.

I just saw Samael tonight. It was the best metal show I saw all year, except the Helloween one in January. I didn't really expected to be this good.

Amok and Pitiful Reign - unsigned Thrash-o-rama! :dio: The UK has a promising old school Thrash scene at the minute.
