Ken put some songs up earlier this summer, but I just got the album today.

Holy shit does it kick total ass. Ville (from Sentenced) doing the vocals puts this band into overdrive, loads better then their excellant first album with Charon guy singing. Shit, darker, heavier, more depressing. This album is the fucking own. I highly recommend it to anyone that likes this style of finnish Goth rock/metal. It is the best I have heard since Crimson or maybe Epilouge from To/Die/For. Fantastic fucking album.

I would say a def 8/10 or maybe 8.5/10 for me.

My thread was a general thread about the band, not specifically about the new album. There are three threads on the new Maiden album on the very first page of that forum.

Now go away.

Well this album ( and I dig the new Maiden) blows that away. Awesome album for fans of dark, death/gothic rock. Ranks up their with my faves from Sentenced, Babylon Whores, the Black League and Blackshine, really good stuff.

Bought the new Poisonblack a few weeks ago. I do like this album, its faster and heavier than their 1st album. But i also like the sound from their 1st album.
Although Ville sings on this album, it doesnt have a Sentenced feel to it. The downside to this album is that there are around 2-3 rather average tracks that i will always skip whenever i'll spin the album again.
Having all that said, the new album is very good, but not awesome. I think that i still prefer Poisonblack's first album over this one...just

I think it has a huge Sentenced vibe to it which is what makes it sound so much different then the first one......

Very good album, in a genre where good albums are becoming scarce.

Exactly. Sentenced clearly still has a heartbeat.

Cant hear any Sentenced vibe at all, totally different musicians (apart from Ville). Different lyrics, different structure.

If this was a Sentenced album....i would be very disappointed

Are you kidding? I don't know how anyone could listen and not hear Sentenced! Totally different musicians, but Ville wrote the music and lyrics for every song but one, and that one song he co-wrote the music, and fully wrote the lyrics. He clearly brought some Sentenced over with him.

Go listen to The Funeral Album, man. If you can't hear that album all over this Poisonblack album I don't know what you're listening to. No disrespect either.

I have every sentenced album, and i can easily tell that the new Poisonblack doesnt have many major sentenced qualities at all. Why turn Poisonblack into Sentenced II....Ville may have written the music, but its still different to what they did on Sentenced.

Like i said before, if this was a sentenced album, it would be the worst album the've done from Down onwards.

I say, bring back J.P, I preferred his voice in Poisonblack over Ville anyday

Considering the course that Sentenced was on, this album, to me, would have been a logical stylistic step after The Funeral Album—which I find to be VERY much like Lust Stained Despair.

And I don't think this is Sentenced II. It's just the musical journey of one musician where all roads are connecting.

Lust Stained Despair is a very good album, that definately has a Sentenced vibe, which was avoided in their first release Escapexstacy. I do prefer Escapexstacy though, I prefer JP's vocals over Ville's and Escapexsatcy had two killer songs "With Her I Die" and "Illusion/Delusion". No song on Lust stained Despair quite reachs the level of those two songs.

escapexstacy: 85/100
lust stained despair: 80/100

It is total Sentenced and it is really just a natural progression from the funeral album. Maybe this is part of the reason they called it quits cos Ville wanted to go this direction? You know what this really sounds like besides the huge Sentenced vibe? It sounds like Tearstained from Charon before the went more pop/rock.

I agree with Lust Stained dispair sounding like Sentenced,
but not quite with Escapexstacy. Well at least not as evident.
As for any of those albums sounding like Charon's Tearstainded I have to disagree. Tearstained has songs that are written with fast guitar and lots more guitar variation with rapid guitar solos. The guitar tone is also quite different and way more catchier.
They do have similarities though as both bands are in the goth realm.

I also believe that Charon's newer albums are more rock/metal than pop/rock but thats a totally different arguement that depends on opinion.

What's odd is that Ville was not the primary songwriter in Sentenced. In fact, he's written very few songs. So it's odd that Lust Stained Despair has such a Sentenced quality to it.

I suppose that even though not being the main writer, being with a bunch of guys and going through several writing processes with the years, one must learn and absorb a few things.

if you read many books by the same author tha you like, chances are your style of writing will most likely borrow elements of his writing style here and there. same goes for music.

Of course, and his vocal style is clearly unique so that'll reinforce even the slightest musical similarity. But Expectecstacy doesn't sound like Sentenced, so that's why I find it odd. Is it just because he's singing on this one? I don't know.
